"Canceled" vs "cancelled"
[edit]With reference to the back-and-forth in this article's edit history, please note the following from Wikipedia:ENGVAR:
"An article on a topic that has strong ties to a particular English-speaking nation uses the appropriate variety of English for that nation."
As this is the bio of a British television producer who appears to work primarily on programmes for the BBC, it seems to me that this criterion points towards using British English here. -- Skarl 18:35, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
- It also says that opportunities for commonality should be utilized, as I did before you reverted it. And it also says something about the first major contributor, and about how the article originally developed. But hey, whatever floats your boat. Chaparral2J (talk) 20:54, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
- I reverted your attempt at commonality because it simply didn't scan. Television shows don't, generally speaking, get "terminated". "In the early stages of writing an article, the variety chosen by the first major contributor to the article should be used, unless there is reason to change it based on strong national ties to the topic."
- Well, we have reason to adopt British English spellings, then.
- That said, if you want another stab at rephrasing the sentence,
I'm not going to stand in your wayI'm game. -- Skarl 21:33, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
- That said, if you want another stab at rephrasing the sentence,

The Stig
[edit]The article states:
He (Andy Wilman) is primarily responsible for the creation of The Stig.[citation needed]
whereas both the The Stig article and its cited source[1] credit Jeremy Clarkson. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.122.189.156 (talk) 01:38, 28 October 2021 (UTC)
