---Facts--- I requested some information about this town from the Douglas County Historical Society, but no one has responded. Robert and Hattie Anlauf were Oregon pioneers, and the town might have been named after them. McArthur writes in Oregon Geographic Names that Anlauf was a stop "...on the Siskiyou line of the Southern Pacific Company." The post office opened May 1, 1901. Will return to this someday and add a few citations unless I forget. Visitor7 (talk) 05:08, 24 February 2012 (UTC)
