The unit this article refers to has been known by may different names but no official one has ever been used. I know I am the one who came up with this name, but after some research I had to come to the conclusion that it refers to the Islamic International Peacekeeping Brigade and not to the unit created by Khattab in 1995. I think we can keep this name for the moment, but eventually we'll have to come up with a proper name. ForrestSjap (talk) 14:30, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If that's true then we shouldnt call the leader the "Amir of the International Islamic battalion" but simply "Amir of International Mujahideen" or something. I'll look into kavkazcenter articles to what they named it. - PietervHuis (talk) 14:41, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I hope this "Battalion" is not the Special Purpose Islamic Regiment? Only Hanzo would know this. Please keep in mind that KC is not a very reliable source. You must have at least one more reliable source. KavkazCenter includes a lot of disinformation planted by the FSB and others. This is very simple. Someone from the FSB calls to KC, claims that he is a representative of "Great Tigers of Islam" for example (although no one knows anything about such "Tigers") and claims a responsibility for a terrorist attack actually perpetrated by the FSB agents. There were also paid FSB Chechen agents like Arbi Barayev who organized the Special Purpose Islamic Regiment - the regiment that attacked the Moscow Theater later.Biophys (talk) 16:20, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No this is simply the batallion of the Arab Mujahideen. This "battalion" exists as they had their own leaders apointed. It turns out that the name "International Islamic Battalion" is faulty, I thought that was its official name because it was named like that in various articles. It turns out ForrestSjap named it like that, and its real name is simply International Mujahadeen or Arab Mujahideen. I think it should be renamed to "Arab Mujahideen in Chechnya" as its mentioned here: [1]. It's also named like this by the Jamestown Foundation and it's accurate. PietervHuis (talk) 18:01, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This document states the name of the leader in the Jama'at Islami as Fathi Mohamed Habib, a/k/a Sheikh Fathi Shishani (Sheikh Fathi).
