Name?
[edit]According to a page called Life After AGRFU on the official website, that entity is now known as "Gulf Rugby'. Also, on this page is the following statement:
- "Gulf Rugby is a company recognised by the Asian RFU and ARFU-member National Governing Bodies in West Asia as a body with authority to administer Cross Border Club Competitions and other Club and Schools Rugby matches sanctioned by National Governing Bodies or endorsed by ARFU in West Asia, including in the former territories over which the AGRFU had jurisdiction until it ceased to be an ARFU and IRB member on 31 December 2010."
Perhaps an article name-change might be in order? Shearonink (talk) 23:29, 19 January 2011 (UTC)
- Hm... not quite... hold your horses... from what I hear AGRFU is not just been renamed, but will shortly be disbanded into constituent parts. Personally I'll be glad to see an end to the naming dispute. However, they still don't seem to be very Arab... their old website was entirely in English, and all the pictures were of palefaces...--MacRusgail (talk) 21:56, 20 January 2011 (UTC)
- I'm not referring to the images on the website in question or to its language, I am only referring to what that official website states the name of the organization now is. If you have reliable sources that say differently... Shearonink (talk) 01:09, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
Update needed
[edit]What's out there in terms of reliable sources on the status of AGRFU and its successor organization(s)? The article says AGRFU was supposed to wind down in 2010. —C.Fred (talk) 04:40, 2 June 2011 (UTC)
Merger proposal

- No merge given opposition and no support with a stale discussion. Klbrain (talk) 06:05, 7 February 2019 (UTC)
I propose that Rugby union in the Arab states of the Persian Gulf be merged into Arabian Gulf Rugby Football Union. There was only one rugby union between Arab states of the Persian Gulf, which is Arabian Gulf Rugby Football Union and the source page is solely discussing this single union. Therefore, the content of Rugby union in the Arab states of the Persian Gulf page should be merged into this page. UA3 (talk) 12:31, 17 December 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose: They're different subjects - one is a governing body, the other describes the sport in the region.--Bijanii (talk) 04:31, 18 December 2017 (UTC)
- You have a nationalist conflict of interest in anything with name Arabian Gulf based on your edits, your judgment is clouded. As I said, the source article is solely discussing one Rugby Union, not the sport in the region (hence the title "Rugby union in the....", it's obvious the article should be merged. Also you should use the proper formatting for merger discussion. Thanks UA3 (talk) 05:12, 18 December 2017 (UTC)
