The "Gordon Statues" Confusion

[edit]

The history section contains some back & forth editing dealing with statues named Gordon so I thought some extra clarification may help others research before further editing:

  • Outside Robert Gordon's College the statue (by T.Stuart Burnett) is of "Charles George Gordon" (killed at Khartoum).
  • The statue in Golden square is inscribed "George, the Fifth and Last Duke of Gordon".
  • There is no statue of Robert Gordon (original benefactor of the college) that I know of.
