Section[edit]

Failed to be mentioned under "name" in this article.....The name Ashur/Assur/Asshur is seen as the founder of the people (race) as in Genesis 10:22.

Picture[edit]

There must be other pictures available of both the ruins and the surroundings of ancient Assur than the one supplied. All the wrong connotations come up, particularly with the laden caption "American soldiers on guard at the ruins of Ashur in 2008". Better no picture than the one supplied. 83.249.137.51 (talk) 15:07, 23 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. It doesn't even say what building that is. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 143.159.139.142 (talk) 08:51, 27 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

"Ashurite kingdom?"[edit]

I don't claim to be an expert, but I've never heard the Assyrians called "Ashurites." — Preceding unsigned comment added by Skull filled with wine (talkcontribs) 00:42, 19 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Etymology - Circular links[edit]

This article refers the reader to Syria. There the name is derived as likely from Assur and links back here.

By the way: How likely is it related to Ur, and then what could Ass-, Ash-,Ath- be? 109.41.0.228 (talk) 21:43, 31 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
