[edit]Name
[edit]I beg all of you not to revert my Lesbos edit in parantheses; no matter what we -Turks- claim about its name, that island is known as Lesbos all over the world and our reverts will not change the truth. We will surely keep the Turkish name Midilli next to it. Thanks in advance. Smyrniot 18:41, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
Objections!
[edit]In my opinion the history part of this article is not really objective. History is not presented in a neutral way. The ancient Greek and Byzantine history of the region are almost neglected (apart from the reference regarding the "Byzantine times"). Moreover there is much more to be written about the late history of Ayvalik (ancient Kydonies), more elements such as population figures could be added. I think that the "Turkish war of independence" should be changed to "Greco-Turkish War (1919-1922)". I will not do any other changes as I might be criticised as subjective because of the fact that I am Greek... Petros The Hellene 21:56, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
Invasion! Not Occupation!
[edit]Greek troops "occupied" Ayvalık to protect Greeks from the Turks? Which Turks? at least, %80 of the population remains Greek at that time. That was an invasion neglected attempt to realize the big ideal of Greeks of Greece carried out through 1919-1920. Asia Minor is a home of the Turks for one thousand years, Greeks invaded it in 1919, then Turks beat the Greeks and freed their homeland, so it can not be regarded as Greco-Turkic War. Am i wrong? I am a Turk whose grand grandparents slaughtered by Greeks and their lands,farms,homes also seized by Greeks in Manastır, only their small children was able to migrate Turkey.
Cezayirli Hasan Pasa was a genius. He was able to devastate almost hole Agean Fleet of Ottomans by his administrative prodigy !!!!!.... Awarded by Emperor, assigned as Grand Vezir !?#$%! Empire fell out like a paper castle in the begining of 20th century.. Its inevitable when you have a dumb grand vezir and dumbest emperor. AnatolianPars (talk) 16:07, 28 May 2009 (UTC)
omissions = propaganda
[edit]Aivali was ethnically cleansed of all indigenous Christian Greeks and Armenians by Turks in 1921-23. That fact, recorded by eyewitnesses, cannot be left out of the description of this town. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Esparcadia (talk • contribs) 21:01, 10 April 2009 (UTC)
- Greeks and Armenians are not indigenous to Anatolia, they are gypsy invaders from Caucasus. Also, there were no Armenians in Ayvalik. And Greeks left Ayvalik during the population exchange between Greece and Turkiye. Try better next time, gypsy Greek/Armenian. 88.242.51.185 (talk) 15:06, 28 October 2023 (UTC)
Photography
[edit]The photo of the "Ayvalik Toast" is a disaster. It's not even similar. This is a "Croque-monsieur", instead of "Ayvalik Toast". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.242.44.97 (talk) 19:08, 30 October 2010 (UTC)

Altınova
[edit]Would be better to remove para on History of Altınova to a separate page about Altınova as doesn't really have much to do with rest of Ayvalık page. I am not able to start the new page myself. Anyone? Ealinggirl1954 (talk) 20:36, 1 October 2022 (UTC)
