[edit]I created this entry based upon research I did for a local Museum in Hawthorne, Nevada, over a period of several years. I'm not sure how to cite sources for this research, as I was the researcher, and much of the material here is not somethinbg I can point to, as much is based upon aerial photographs, old blueprints, interviews, and material from a small local paper whose archives are not available digitally. Town CenterI
[edit]I lived in Babbitt, Nv. from 1947 to 1951, at 117 Saratoga Ave. The one thing that is not mentioned is the Town center. It was located east of the Bowling Alley. The Town center consisted of a Bank, Barber Shop, Post Office, Grocery Store, Drug Store and Beauty Shop.75.170.67.12 (talk) 16:36, 19 June 2008 (UTC)
Babbitt Court and NSEW directions
[edit]The Town Center was called "Babbitt Court" and is listed as such in contemporary phone books (see references). The entry does contain references to the facilities.
As to what was north or east of what, Babbitt was aligned so its short axis was along a NNE line. As such, the commercial shops section was NNE of the Bowling Alley, which was itself NNE of the Community Center and the facilities that flanked it. The Theatre was ESE of the community center. As the blocks were not aligned with respect to North-South, stating one block is east of another can lead to error.MrNeutronSF (talk) 06:50, 22 May 2009 (UTC)
Babbitt Court
[edit]The following is the exact location where the facilities were located: The Bowling Alley, between Ranger Ave & Lexington, and 20th and 21st St., facing Lexington. Babbitt Court was located between 20th & 21st street, and Lexington Ave & Essex Ave. The Bank & Barber Shop faced 20th Street, Post Office, Grocery store, Drug Store and Beauty Shop facing Essex Ave. The Movie Theater was located between Ranger Ave & Saratoga Ave,and 21st & 23rd street as 22nd street did not go thru. g.anderlohr, 1947 to 1951 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.125.115.27 (talk) 19:06, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
