Anal Sex

[edit]

So, come on, are you people telling me that there's was no intended reference to Buggery in this song? It's right in the middle of an era of innuendo and veiled meaning. --Birdseed 11:34, 13 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

pretty sure that phrase has been used in blues songs for decades beforehand anyway, who knows
While I suspect that rock musicians often intended the double entendre, this really is southern lingo. If you can find a reliable source, then go ahead. 131.96.47.17 (talk) 16:11, 4 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I'd have to agree, anyone who thinks it's about having an affair has lead a sheltered life. Yakacm (talk) 16:31, 16 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Derek

[edit]

I want to add a sentence about Johnny Cymbal aka Derek reaching # 59 on the Hot 100 with his version of "Back Door Man", but, for some reason, the article is not open for any editing. Why?98.149.97.245 (talk) 15:47, 25 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

That's a different song, with the writers listed as "Johnny Cymbal, George Tobin". There doesn't appear to be much has been written about it,[1] so it's unlikely that it meets the requirements for separate song articles. —Ojorojo (talk) 17:15, 25 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Lyrics Differences in Doors Version

[edit]

Some of the verses in the Doors’ version are different than the ones in what is presumably the original version. I haven’t been able to find any information on this (although didn’t do a deep deep dive).

If there is any source (other than just comparing the lyrics) it would be good to include it in the article. Jomeara421 (talk) 18:54, 22 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This has a little, but no specifics.[2] Do you think anything is usable? —Ojorojo (talk) 16:27, 23 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
One of the quotes is pretty clear, indicating that Morrison did in fact modify the lyrices. But I don't have access to the book so can't really look at it more closely. Jomeara421 (talk) 01:40, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Added comment about Morrison's lyrics from Davis. —Ojorojo (talk) 15:40, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
