Image captions
[edit]Image captions should be reflect where possible; what it is, where it is, and when it is.
Ideally it would state "Road roller on the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Australia in 1930". But as we don't know the date "Road roller on the Sydney Harbour Bridge, Australia" is the next best thing.
Just having "Sydney Harbour Bridge, Australia" with no context to the article is poor. Korkeconv (talk) 07:16, 26 March 2019 (UTC)
- Thank heavens you have begun this. Your additions have no relevance, are simply an unwelcome distraction from the article and throw unwanted emphasis there:
- Please would you consider these factors:
- 1. what is the article about? (A British company making road rollers) SHB as a subject is hopelessly remote
- 2. why is it so important to add that the subject is a road roller? If someone was unable to work it out for themselves there is a picture just to the right and up a bit to tell them. The second picture is rather obscure, I have told readers it is a roller in case they wondered what on earth it is.
- 3. why do they need to know, as I do, that it is working on the harbour bridge. That has no relevance to the article at all. As I have said earlier the pictures of the same product twice, images 3 as well as 2 are to give an idea of the geographical spread of Barford Perkins' market - India, Switzerland, Australia.
- And finally it uglifies the little block of images
