Who's Birch?
[edit]Some of the narrative, particularly in the section "The shooting begins", is a bit confused because the parties are never identified. Mangoe (talk) 14:02, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
Maclean's rank
[edit]I changed the rank based on Browne's own official despatch viz "No. 24672". The London Gazette. 28 January 1879. David Underdown (talk) 15:20, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
- I notice that the other sources also seem to have his first initial wrong, he was J G Maclean, not F G. There does not seem ever to have been an F G Maclean in British service viz http://www.london-gazette.co.uk/issues/exact=F.+G.+Maclean/start=1 versus http://www.london-gazette.co.uk/issues/1879-01-01;1900-12-31/exact=J.+G.+Maclean/start=1 David Underdown (talk) 15:30, 3 December 2009 (UTC)
