Date of the battle[edit]

The article on Charles the Bold gives the date for the Battle of Nancy as 6 January 1477; my Dupuy & Dupuy Encyclopedia of Military History gives it as 5 January. I left it in the article as the 5th for now, as per the original author; if anyone else has a good source please check; some other articles may need to be updated if that date is correct. Thanks! Richard Vaughan's Charles the Bold gives it as January 5 as well; the article on Charles the Bold is incorrect, and I've changed it accordingly. It had the correct date for Charles' death at the beginning, however. Kirill Lokshin 22:29, 6 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Translation[edit]

If possible, could someone translate this map?

There is not much to translate

  • Plan de la bataille - Battle plan
  • Bois de Jarville - Jarville forest
  • Foret de Haye - Haye Forest. (Foret and bois are both forest, foret is larger)
  • Commanderie Saint Jean - Saint Jean headquarters, but commanderie can also mean county (in legal enforcement sense, Sheriff's county)
  • Avance de l'armee Rene - advance of Rene's army
  • Gros des troup - bulk of the troops (bulk of the army)
  • Etang Saint Jean - Saint Jean (John)'s lake.

The rest are names of persons or places.

Infantry vs. cavalry[edit]

In some interpretations, this was notable as being pretty much an infantry victory over cavalry... AnonMoos (talk) 20:55, 4 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Alliance[edit]

Article talks about allied forces without any mentioning of an alliance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.159.71.34 (talk) 19:27, 7 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
