Infobox "Result"

[edit]

Please note that Template:Infobox military conflict#Parameters states against "result" that "this parameter may use one of two standard terms: "X victory" or "Inconclusive"." The infobox has been amended to reflect this. Please read the template "result" guidance in full before amending or reverting. It would probably be best to discuss any proposed change here first to seek consensus. Thanks. Gog the Mild (talk) 16:25, 22 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I know very well the standard terms established by Template:Infobox military conflict#Parameters; however, I thought the clarification that the Allied flotilla failed to destroy the convoy should be reflected in some way, especially when no source is cited claiming an "Allied victory". I acknowledge, however, that the infobox is not the proper place for such analysis. Regards.---Darius (talk) 22:34, 22 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Gog the Mild: @FarSouthNavy: Doing my usual clean up, expansion and citing, auto-edding, dupe wl check etc. Changed result but open to debate. Regards Keith-264 (talk) 18:12, 2 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Should we really call it a battle? O'Hara calls it the Messina Convoy, I'd go for Action of.... Regards Keith-264 (talk) 20:03, 2 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Hohum: Greetings, any chance you could put Cape Spartivento into the infobox map? Thanks Keith-264 (talk) 22:41, 2 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Isn't that at the southern tip of Sardinia? .. outside the map? (Hohum @) 22:48, 2 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, there are two, identical names. (Hohum @) 22:52, 2 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Hohum: Yes, when I started, I was somewhat startled to find myself looking at southern Sardinia. I've tried to add maps like yours but have never got it right, is there a WP page or something for me to look at as there are quite a few articles where i would have liked to do them Action off Cape Bougaroun being a recent one. Thanks Keith-264 (talk) 07:19, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Basically from reading Template:Location map many, looking at the examples, and working from them. (Hohum @) 11:35, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Keith-264: You may wish to add a link to this article in the articles about the two Allied ships. The action is mentioned in these articles but, being relatively new, this article is not linked to the description of the incident. Donner60 (talk) 09:12, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Tables

[edit]

Added tables since I've been doing them everywhere else ;O). Not sure about the Italian flag things in the table though, is there a civilian flag for the Italian freighters? Regards Keith-264 (talk) 09:25, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, looks good. I'd be happy to leave the flags as is. Eastfarthingan (talk) 20:24, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi both, Keith and Eastfarthingan, I replaced the Italian naval jacks for the Royal civilian ensign of the time, established as official flag for the merchant navy in 1923. The current Italian Merchant Navy flag is in use since 1947, the year of the fall of the monarchy. Darius (talk) 20:36, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
