Location

[edit]

It's not clear from the article if the house was physcially moved at some point. Rklawton 12:30, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Should be clarified now. IvoShandor 12:35, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Slave labor

[edit]

in junior high, my history teacher taught us that the house was built by slaves. i don't have a source (yet?), but was curious if folks thought it would be a relevant note if i did find one. Murderbike 01:43, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'd heard that, too - from the staff. I think it's relevant if we can find a source. Rklawton 02:42, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The only source I found about it said indentured servants. I would note that almost everything you were told in junior high or high school history classes was likely incorrect. ;) IvoShandor 06:13, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Any sources welcome, of course, the NRHP form is the one that said indentured servants (which are really just glorified slaves). IvoShandor 06:14, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Believe me, Lies My Teacher Told Me is one of my favorite books. Kind of why I figured I'd posit the question here. It does seem likely to me though. However, I don't really have any access to non-online sources right now, as libraries in the northwest don't really care about histories of tiny towns in the midwest.
