Sources ?
[edit]The parentage cited here needs some sourcing. I am presuming that this person is Beornnoth 12 on PASE, an æthling who was active in 905, who was the father of Beorhtsige 7 (d. 901), about whom PASE says that Swanton (1996), The Anglo-Saxon Chronicles, p. 94 n. 6, suggests that the name Beorhtnoth found in the C and D manuscripts may be more correct.
But there seems to be nothing there about his parentage, nor to connect him to Beorhtweald, nor indeed to connect him to Kent; and no charters (at least not on PASE) with his name.
So does anyone know where these claims come from? Perhaps some later history, assembled by one of the post-Conquest chroniclers, not on PASE? Or some later charter? Or an article by some historian? Or some historical novel?
For the moment I have added a {{dubious}} tag, until anyone can give some sourcing. Jheald (talk) 11:04, 31 January 2016 (UTC)
- According to the ASC Beorhtnoth/Beornnoth's son Beorhtsige fell at the Battle of the Holme, fighting with the Danes of East Anglia on Æthelwold's side, against the men of Kent.
- This appears to be the only mention of either of them in PASE. Jheald (talk) 11:17, 31 January 2016 (UTC)
