Coins

[edit]

I added pics of two kinds of bhutanese coins that I have at home. I might also be able to post a scan of a bill. --Shell 22:02, 14 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I just want to confirm that coins are actually used in Bhutan, because I just haven't seen them. During a trip in 1997, I saw only bills in my ten days in the country. At that time, you'd get a 1 ngultrum bill and it was worth about three cents (USD). Today, the value would be less. If they still exist, I'd say all coins are very rare. I get the impression that the main reason Bhutan even mints coins is for the sake of selling them to foreign collectors... commemoratives especially. With the 1 ngultrum note being worth only a little over 2 US cents, there's not much call for the coins in actual commerce. 71.237.10.137 (talk) 04:35, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Banknotes

[edit]

I added the Bhutanese 1 ngultrum note to the list of currency. I believe there is also be a 2 nu. note; but I no longer have one, so I won't vouch for the fact that I ever did. Maybe someone can add to the banknote list if it really does exist. Goeverywhere 03:51, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nu 1 and Nu 2 are phasing out. That's why I put them as "rarely used" in the infobox. Your change has been reverted. --Chochopk 05:31, 24 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Extraterrestrials

[edit]

I read (http://drugoi.livejournal.com/3093641.html) that there is a link between the ngultrum and their belief in aliens? Can someone elaborate plx —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mizanthrop (talkcontribs) 00:04, 22 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Long before 1974!

[edit]

Bhutan was using "ngultrum" since 1962! (You can look at their postage stamps about that...) Böri (talk) 11:28, 16 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
