Marital status?

Clearly states in body of text that he is divorced from Tonia Benn but the little box top right says "up to present" for their marriage.78.148.193.97 (talk) 12:27, 22 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Death

[edit]

His death is confirmed in multiple reliable sources (eg. here). Please unprotect User:Oshwah. Ollie231213 (talk) 12:10, 30 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I was quite rudely reverted without explanation and then the page was fully protected against guidelines and procedures. Aiken D 12:11, 30 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) How exactly was "the page was fully protected against guidelines and procedures"? What guideline or procedure do you refer to that I violated? I fully protected the page because we take WP:BLP very seriously, and even more so when I see edits being made to the article stating that the person is now dead but without any references at all to back it up. That's a serious violation of Wikipedia's BLP policy and the repeated edits that continued to do so prompted the application of full protection. I apologize if my reversion came off as rude in any way - it was not my intention at all. Wikipedia has been the subject of media coverage and high internet trends and responses in the past where hoaxes have allowed us to update a BLP article in violation of this policy. It's definitely a problem that we really don't want to have happen again... I'm just asking for your understanding and that I have the responsibility of protecting the project from harm. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns, and I'll be happy yo help you. Thanks :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 12:32, 30 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I fully understand the need to be careful, but now long-term and good faith editors have given clear sources. The only edits made recently are about his death which is verifiable. So, please unprotect the page. Aiken D 12:35, 30 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Aiken drum - You're correct with your response here. Since references have been found and the article updated, and the original reason to fully protect the article has been resolved, I've lowered the protection level on this article. Please let me know if I can do anything else for you. Best regards - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 12:41, 30 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, I have stricken part of my comment above - see below too. Aiken D 12:42, 30 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
It's all good, man. Like I said, I appreciate your understanding very much and I'm happy that you see that what I'm doing is with protecting the project in mind. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 12:47, 30 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The article has been updated by an admin editing through full protection. I’m not seeing why the page is fully protected? The only recent edits have been to say he has died, which is now confirmed. Aiken D 12:28, 30 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I’ve reconsidered what I wrote and believe the article was protected in good faith, as the edits weren’t sourced. However, it’s clear that the changes made were accurate and that he has sadly died. So I’m not seeing why protection is still needed? Aiken D 12:41, 30 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Extended-confirmed-protected edit request on 30 March 2018

Please add this obituary from The Guardian. It is the only source I have found that actually states an exact date of death (March 30) :
