Blastocyst cavity is not blastocoele!!! It is cavity of blastulla, wich is not homolog of the blastocyst 95.24.108.103 (talk) 18:30, 7 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

As part of my Developmental Biology course project I am editing a wiki page under the supervision of drsusan1968. Katlyn714 (talk) 12:56, 1 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Blastocyst is not a mammalian blastula!

[edit]

Blastocyst is not a mammalian blastula. As mammals is a part of Amniota, and as all Amniota they have a discoblastula (as Avian). The mammals have also epiblast and hypoblast, so the real blastocoele is the space between these layers (as it is also in Avians and reptiles). The blastocyst cavity (that is the right name) is usually called blastocoele, but this cavity is not homologous to blastocoele of the non-mammalian species. The page info is correct as per the refs used. The blastocoel is not also known as the blastocyst cavity. Feel free to edit and make any changes supported by refs. --Iztwoz (talk) 11:03, 29 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
