First skyscraper in Continental Europe

[edit]

Sorry but the first Skycraper of in Europe is the Telefonica Building in Madrid, Spain, finished in the 1929 year —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sdepazos (talkcontribs) 15:52, 31 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It depends on the criteria. The Boerentoren is based on the American examples and therefore considered to be the first skyscraper in Europe whereas the Spanish example is more a high building (like the Liver Building in Liverpool).
The current sentence seems OK to me. ' It is often considered to be the first skyscraper in Europe' which is no lie. --Wester (talk) 14:29, 28 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The Kungstornen in Stockholm was built before both this building and the Telefonica Building.

Boerentoren taller than Telefónica

[edit]

According to this article and the Telefónica Building, it says that the Boerentoren was the second tallest until 1940 but if I'm not mistaken, the Boerentoren height is 95.8 m to the roof while the Telefónica is 89 m. Wouldn't this make the Boerentoren the highest between 1929 and 1940? Amebrahtu1997 (talk) 16:21, 24 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
