Requested Move[edit]

  • Talk:BreadmakerBreadmakerBread machine – The title 'breadmaker' is misleading and incorrect; a breadmaker is defined as an individual who professionally bakes bread. The appropriate page title should be Bread machine, which is an electronic appliance which creates dough and processes it on a prespecified schedule. I accidentally cut-and-paste moved it, and was chastised, so I'm turning here. —Asarkees 00:29, 22 February 2006 (UTC)

Voting[edit]

  • I absolutely support this move. Breadmaker is ambiguous at best. The title reads like it refers to a person, not a machine. The content should be moved to Bread machine and then this page should be a disambig to direct either to bread machine or baker. Dave 00:33, 22 February 2006 (UTC)
I support the move and especially the disambig, since I know there are some, like me, that call it breadmaker, though bread machine is more correct. Verne Equinox 01:00, 22 February 2006 (UTC).
  • Comment : For sake of clarity, suggest "Breadmaking machine" rather than "Bread machine" (and include something like "(sometimes known as a '''breadmaker''', although this usually refers to a person)" in the first sentence) ...?  Regards, David Kernow 15:15, 22 February 2006 (UTC)
It just seems weird to list the page at a name that is not used to describe it for clarity's sake. I know that sounded muddled, but i think that I'm trying to say is that factual accuracy should be more important than having an unwieldy, heavily explicative title. We don't list "hat" at "piece of headgear used for decorative or functional purposes," y'know? It's a hat, and we list it at hat. Asarkees 18:01, 22 February 2006 (UTC)
Another possibility: "Breadmaker (machine)". I think that's what I'd support. Best wishes, David Kernow 18:32, 22 February 2006 (UTC)
The whole point of this discussion was to make "breadmaker" not be conflated with "bread machine," though. Asarkees 03:15, 26 February 2006 (UTC)

Unnecessary template?[edit]

The otheruses template is probably unnecessary after the move. While Breadmaker and baker could be confused, it is unlikely that a person would confuse bread machine with baker. Opinions? 206.53.24.182 23:05, 8 November 2006 (UTC) Sorry, just noticed a redirect. Wouldn't a template that says "Breadmaker redirects here. For a person that bakes bread, see baker" or something similar be more applicable? I think there is a template for that, but I don't know it. 206.53.24.182 23:08, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

I've replaced the otheruses4 template with {{redirect}}. Graham87 10:43, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

Vandalism to the History section[edit]

Some jackass put "The first breadmaker was released in North Carolina in 1991 her name was Emily DeSpain." in the history section. I'd fix it but I don't know the history nor have a source. DAK had them in 1989. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.127.228.185 (talk) 09:17, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
