Article title
[edit]Why is it called British Rail Class 350? British Rail ceased to exist as an organisation over 10 years ago and thus the title is misleading. Hymers2 (talk) 13:18, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
- This is in line with the other services and creates a standard style.
- Mr aebrookes, whatever your username on the 'pedia might be, here's your image for the page - do as you will! File:350240_Birmingham_New_Street.jpg Worley-d (talk) 09:56, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- (You can remove it when you're done here, I've forgotten how to link an image without it showing up :P) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Worley-d (talk • contribs) 09:58, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- Every train has a TOPS number assigned to it, and even though British Rail isn't an organisation, TOPS still puts "British Rail" in the name of the train (e.g British Rail Class 350) for some reason. Charjabugz (talk) 16:18, 24 August 2023 (UTC)
the Infobox
[edit]needs one image, not two. 86.143.215.78 (talk) 12:42, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
- I've reinserted the removed image into the article, but placed it into a gallery instead. Raywil (talk) 18:10, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
Someone has changed the picture on the infobox and personally I think the previous picture of 350 114 was better. Any thoughts? --Geezertronic (talk) 12:14, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, I also think the previous picture looks better, but I can't quite put my finger on why I think that. Raywil (talk) 18:34, 4 March 2010 (UTC)
References
[edit]Do we have enough references to remove the "need for verification"? I'm gone around, tidied up a few things and updated the page for the 350/1, /3 and /4 projects. DAB Wikis (talk) 17 November 2012

Reliable sources
[edit]www.abrail.co.uk is a hobbyist/enthusiast website. See WP:USERGENERATED. It is not a reliable site for citing the names of units. --109.153.214.109 (talk) 14:11, 16 August 2017 (UTC)
- A more productive action is to make an effort to find a reliable source or if not request a cite be added rather than deleting outright. NevHil43 (talk) 06:38, 17 August 2017 (UTC)
Power?
[edit]Reference 7 (Angel Trains) says only that each power car has four 250kW motors
Where does the statement in the infobox that the total is 1500kW come from?
86.135.129.116 (talk) 00:24, 14 July 2019 (UTC)
- According to
- Pritchard, Robert; Hall, Peter (2019). British Railways Locomotives & Coaching Stock 2019. Sheffield: Platform 5 Publishing. p. 292. ISBN 978-1-909431-51-5.
- each unit has four 250 kW traction motors, which would total 1000 kW; but it also shows that the axle arrangement is Bo-Bo+2-2+2-2+Bo-Bo which implies eight traction motors. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 12:32, 14 July 2019 (UTC)
- Indeed. That makes a total of 2000kW, so where does the statement in the infobox that the total is 1500kW come from? 86.135.129.116 (talk) 01:25, 15 July 2019 (UTC)
Class 323
[edit]The class 323 was never replaced by the class 350, it was planned for the Northern Rail class 323 fleet to go to London Midland in 2009 but that never happened.
And while yes London Midland did order class 350/2s instead of getting more class 323s London Midland retained their entire fleet of class 323s and so did Northern Rail so the class 350 did not replace the class 323 hence why I removed the class 323 from the replaced list. New infobox image
[edit]Hi all, obviously the current image isn't bad or especially outdated, but with the majority of the 350s having receieved the LNR livery - not the plain/ex-LM one - would a new image be suitable; and if so what are people's thoughts on this? c:File:350372_Approaching_Coventry.jpg
Don't want to start edit wars hence why posting here :D Vanmanyo (talk) 17:17, 4 January 2024 (UTC)
- That's a very dark image - can it be brightened? Danners430 (talk) 17:23, 4 January 2024 (UTC)
- The current image is significantly higher quality and shows more of the train as well. XtraJovial (talk • contribs) 17:27, 4 January 2024 (UTC)
Max Speed
[edit]The max speed of the Class 350 is 110mph, but it doesn't translate to 180 kmh, it's 177km/h, there are little black boards with text on and it says that the max speed is 110mph or 177kmh. I can send a picture if you want me to! Charjabugz (talk) 11:49, 10 February 2024 (UTC)
- The max speed parameter is using the Convert template - it’s not been manually entered. Danners430 (talk) 12:29, 10 February 2024 (UTC)
- @Charjabugz: You need to specify the number of significant figures:
- It's all described at Template:Convert. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 21:10, 10 February 2024 (UTC)
- Ah okay, thanks for telling me. Charjabugz (talk) 12:05, 23 February 2024 (UTC)
- You can find the 177 kmh thing on 350/2s btw Charjabugz (talk) 12:05, 23 February 2024 (UTC)
- Ah okay, thanks for telling me. Charjabugz (talk) 12:05, 23 February 2024 (UTC)
Possible new name on 350 250
[edit]I found a nameplate sorta thing on 350 250, if you want me to, i'll send a picture. But the name in question is "2011 Golden Spanner" and i haven't seen this on any other Class 350/2 before. Charjabugz (talk) 09:38, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
- That’s not a name, it’s an “award” given to the most reliable unit. LNER did it with their HSTs. Danners430 (talk) 09:51, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
- Ah okay, thank you for telling me Charjabugz (talk) 10:05, 20 April 2024 (UTC)
Incident regarding 350 236
[edit]350 236 was out from June 2024 until November 2024 and the incident was the unit hitting a person on the rails but but i dont have a source to cite for said incident. Just writing this so when i put this info in the incident and accidents page it doesnt get taken down. Charjabugz (talk) 23:10, 24 November 2024 (UTC)
- It got taken down, rightly, because you didn't have a source for it. 10mmsocket (talk) 07:49, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
