This is a pretty non-notable band, I would recommend deletion of this article, or at least a merging into an article covering such non-notable "underground bands"

They are notable per WP:MUSIC - they've released more than one album under a major record label. Awyong J. M. Salleh 10:04, 25 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
From article: "In 1969, Bubble Puppy released their only full-length LP A Gathering of Promises." ONLY one full length album, thats pretty non notable. I say yes to deletion

I would argue that they did indeed issue two albums, "A Gathering of Promises" and "Demian", albeit under two different names but with the same personnel. Nibios 23:23, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am Daniel Gonzalez from Barcelona (Spain), and this article has really helped me. I run a radio show here in Ona de Sants FM while I'm finishing my Berklee studies on Jazz and Modern Music on an associated centre here, and even though I was born on the eighties I heard this band before and I am going to play them on my radio show tonight, the info on this page has really helped me so I can say something about this band. And I have to add that if a band that has no more than one LP isn't worth a place on wikipedia, bands such as Blind Faith shouldn't be here either. The Bubble Puppy was a great band despite their comercial success or the lenght of their carreer. I won't take out the deleting template because I don't consider myself the best suited to do it, but hope this page remains here for a long time.

Now I have proof enough that this article fits Wikipedia standards: I had a look on allmusic.com (As recommended on the Resources section of WP:MUSIC ) and found this: "Bubble Puppy enjoyed arguably the greatest commercial success of all the Texas psychedelic bands, scoring a Top 20 pop hit with "Hot Smoke & Sasafrass.", and that fits the fact: Has had a charted hit on any national music chart. So I think this is enough to proof that this article fills notability requirements.

please try an afd

[edit]

look, if there is a legitimate concern that this article should not be here, the best way to go about it would be to do a proper afd as outlined in WP:AFD rather than prod tag warring. that way the community can work on achieving a consensus on its worthiness. sound good? -- frymaster 17:18, 8 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

well, it's been a month now and no-one's given an afd a shot... so i guess it's pretty much a non-ssue -- frymaster 19:19, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I for one believe that this entry should be here ... I would like to point out that Bubble Puppy is not from San Antonio ... they formed in Corpus Christi, Texas. They have a star at the South Texas Music Hall of Fame in downtown Corpus Christi near the Executive Surf Club. Although this discussion seems over and done with I would like to add my thoughts. Since the band had the top 20 hit, that alone qualifies the notability stipulation. The 2 albums adds to the case. It should stay. Thanks!THX1136 (talk) 20:48, 3 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Keep this in Wikipedia as a notable band. If removed due to a one album band, then there are hundreds of one hit wonder artists here who have only a single 45 rpm with two songs.
international artists had the 13 th floor elevators and other famous bands in the Austin Texas psychedelic music time. This is distinct and different than San Francisco, NYC, London or other psychedelic music styles. The UK had more arty music, San Francisco had more rock and electronic music.
the Austin Texas psychedelic had more proto punk psychedelic music.
also, the Austin Texas music scene mixed country music and psychedelic music unlike Nashville or Branson Missouri country music 2600:1700:D591:5F10:BD9B:B1E4:81E9:3160 (talk) 04:34, 23 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
