Some things about this article that we should probably do ... list the host city and when a band is in the line-up for an earlier year, there is no need to link it a second time. At least this is how Maschinenfest's entry is. Granted, there are no established standards. It also might be nice to include a photo of one of the bands performing so people whom are using these entries to find more about the styles of these festivals can "see". But this is a great start! This article should borrow a bit more from the Blacksun Festival format. In particular it would be nice if we could convert the list of artists to include dates of the festivals and format the artist lists into multiple columns. I also think it might be nice to list the total number of bands and venues in a single sentence summarizing each year of the festival. MCalamari 16:21, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think the Blacksun festival page looks terrible, personally. I think the dates and descriptions are good ideas, but I much, much prefer the artist formatting here to the artist formatting of Blacksun. Twiin 17:09, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Admittedly a simple comma separated list is easier to edit, but perhaps there could be a date entry, including calendar days, followed by a one-line sentence summarizing the number of participants, bands, and venues for each year. The sentence could then be followed by the list of bands shown here. There is no way a Blacksun styled page would work for a festival with the history of say Wave-Gotik-Treffen, ultimately I think I'm agreeing with you. MCalamari 20:50, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think that's a good idea. I'll see if the promoters have published attendance info and the like. Twiin 21:32, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Great! For attendance info, even estimates such as 1,000 or 5,000 are fine. Ultimately we just want to provide ballpark numbers year to year to illustrate the growth and possible decline of participation. For WGT all that matters are the early years, as eventually the festival has been officially capped at something on the order of 20,000 participants. I just saw a French language rock festival page that instead of commas uses pipes to separate band names ... still easy to read and type, what do you think about that small format change? MCalamari 21:36, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Like this? Twiin 14:29, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
2004: Converter | Iszoloscope | Paratonerf | PerfectionPlastic
Yup!  :) We should probably put the calendar days "Mar 1 - 3" after the year and not wikilink bands that do not yet have articles. I tend add the broken links to bands that I eventually plan to create articles for. MCalamari 17:14, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That sounds good. I plan on writing up a lot of noteworthy industrial musicians/acts that don't have entries yet, so hopefully not so many of the bands listed will be redlinked. Twiin 19:48, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Cool. On entries where bands are wikilinked like this, I also think we don't need to link every instance of a band. For example, Iszoloscope should be linked in 2004, but not in any subsequent years -- as the band is not he isn't new to the festival. Doing this also will hopefully illustrate the first time a band participated at a festival. MCalamari 21:12, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Updates done like you said : only link for bands that have a wikipedia site and only linked once. and i just added the line up for 2007 edition .
[edit]

As noted on the Kinetik webpage, both festival are not the same thing other than being produced by 2 of the original producer of the COMA festival. Maybe it would be time to create a page for the Kinetik Festival to avoid confusion. Also 2011 Kinetik Festival line up is wrong, KMFDM, And One and Panzer AG have cancel and have been replaced by FRONT 242, Covenant and Funker Vogt. A link to the actual Kinetik Festival page at the end and not only old website of COMA without any updates in years could also be a good change. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.23.182.79 (talk) 04:38, 16 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Notability criteria

[edit]

There's a warning on this article referencing WP:NEVENTS which, it would seem, is meant for evaluating inclusion of news events rather than things like music festivals. While I can understand the conflation in terms, I doubt the referenced criteria applies. There's nothing related in WP:NMUSIC, so I suppose this falls back to WP:GNG?-- t_kiehne (talk) 21:59, 28 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Name

[edit]

I think the name origin should be added. It looks like an abbreviation, but I couldn't find the full form Orisphera2 (talk) 21:50, 9 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
