This article may be too technical for most readers to understand.(September 2010) |
Original research
[edit]This is a very technical article with no references. It looks like it is either a copyright violation (it was uploaded anonymously), but I can find no matching source documents (there are copyright violatins the other way!), or it would seem to me to be an original paper. --David Woolley 11:01, 12 November 2005 (UTC)
- At least one academic article (full text here) seems to back up what the article indicates. It is not my field of expertise, however, so I can't say much beyond that. --Hansnesse 21:16, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
- Most of this is drawn from published work which is in the public domain. I will be adding references where appropriate as fast as i can. V-man 06:17, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
Cleanup
[edit]As well as no references, there are no subpheadings. --David Woolley 11:01, 12 November 2005 (UTC)
- Working on a cleanup now. Stay tuned.V-man 06:18, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
CD36 expression
[edit]According to my knowledge, CD36 is not expressed on adult erythrocytes, as is mentioned in the article. It is however expressed on adult erythroid cells as they differentiate from mature BFU-E to reticulocytes [1,2] (and probably on 10-20% of fetal erythrocytes [1]).

- Those are some spcific but older references. They seem to contradict the malaria literature. I.E. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=pubmed&dopt=Abstract&list_uids=2473841&query_hl=14&itool=pubmed_docsumV-man 21:41, 25 February 2006 (UTC)
CD36 clinical significance
[edit]Elucidation of CD36's relationship to obesity was needed with reference to current literature. Minor clarification to CD36's role in blood pressure was called for as well. Pjuviler (talk) 10:21, 17 November 2014 (UTC)
CD36 Involved in metastasis
[edit]Should mention [1], [2]. - Rod57 (talk) 12:38, 9 February 2017 (UTC)
- No. Please stop suggesting that people add content that is WP:Biomedical information sourced to non-MEDRS sources like this. This is hyped basic research that comes around every few years. We are not part of the hype cycle. Jytdog (talk) 20:28, 9 February 2017 (UTC)
Much work needed
[edit]Copy refs from intro to detail sections, describe ligand binding mechanism (what it is specific to), More on the internalisation, what happens to the CD36 after internalisation, different roles/functions on different cell types, separate normal function from aberrations in disease. - Rod57 (talk) 13:33, 9 February 2017 (UTC)
