Fair use rationale for Image:Stickyfingersstones.jpg

[edit]

Image:Stickyfingersstones.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

On the genre...

[edit]

This song like a lot of genres, blues-rock, hard rock, rock, and jazz, so I thought we could work on the genre box and try and make it more specific than just "Rock." Thoughts? Cheezer Rox (talk) 18:14, 22 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

cool that you've come to the talk page about this! it would be way better for the article to leave the info-box general and to go into detail in the body of the article itself, where sources can (and should!) be cited for the genres mentioned. Sssoul (talk) 18:26, 22 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not to sound rude or anything, but then what's the point of the genre box? I mean, I'm all for going into detail in the article, but then what's the point of sub-genres, like alternative rock, and sub-sub-genres like grunge? CheezerRox4502 (talk) 22:41, 27 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

if you check out Archives 9 - 14 on this page, you'll find a recent debate about the genre fields in info boxes, what (if anything) they should contain, how much detail they should go into, etc etc. meanwhile, if you have specific details from reliable sources to add to the article, with citations, please do so - then there might be grounds for making the info box more specific about what genre/subgenre labels have notably been applied to this track.
