Point of Interest
[edit]I've spent 8-9 years of my life researching what I got for the CAT competition, especially from the earlier years; although I was a participant and would like to enlighten the general public and let the former participants to enjoy their previous experiences, the majority of this data has come from my website. There are publishing companies that print straight from Wikipedia content, as I noticed when researching the CAT competition and receiving a paperback with the information that I had uploaded. Not that I was thinking of publishing a book in the near future, but if you had looked at the privacy and policy page of my website,http://www.mihalko-family.com/Privacy.htm, you'd see that all information on the site is considered public information but may not be copied without prior approval. Use of appropriate byline/photo/image credits is requested once approval for use has been given. Which is why I intentionally decided to post the info on my website and not Wikipedia. Now that I think about it, there weren't any images in those books either, which is how they can get away with what they do. On second thought, the page looks good and all the specifics aren't included; so excuse my previous rant :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mihalko (talk • contribs) 23:28, 16 August 2013 (UTC)
...and now the Wiki "editors", those who have no clue of the subject matter, have removed my website as your references. Plagiarism at it's finest, reference my comments in my first paragraph. — Preceding signed comment added by Mihalko (talk) 21:40, 11 February 2014 (UTC))
Removed content
[edit]Too lazy to sign in... I removed some content due to possible vandalism.
Content are as follows:
1971 was the last year the Great Britain team won the CAT - 16th/5th The Queen's Royal Lancers.
1977 was won by the Canadian team won the CAT - Royal Canadian Dragoons.
1979 was the first year that the USA team finished other than last place (4th place) - M-3/2 ACR - an especially noteworthy effort by Lieutenant (later Captain) David Andersson - the M60A1's being used by the USA entry were the oldest generation of tanks competing. This is innaccurate. About 4 months prior to the CAT shoot, M Co. 3/2 ACR received the first issue of M60A3 TTS in USAEUR. Specifically because M Co. had been selected for CAT '79.
1981 was the first year the Great Britain team the CAT - Royal Scotts Dragoon Guards.
1985 was won by the German team - 2. /244 Panzerbatallion of the 1. Gebirgsdivision with the new Leopard II tank, was the first time of the direct competition of the German Leopard II and the US M1
1987 was the first year that the USA team finished first.
1989 was the last year the Netherlands team won the CAT - 4th Plt, 41st Tnk Bn (Dienstplichtige Huzaren).

- I added a more substantial and legitimate source to tackle this "source" problem. Mightyname (talk) 01:11, 20 February 2014 (UTC)
Correction 1983 Cat Shoot
[edit]I was one of the first stateside trained M-1 63E mechanics to be stationed with 3/63 AR. 3/63 AR was in the Cat shoot in 1983 as I was a PFC there. C Co. was well represented there during this time. Changes should be made to say C CO 3/63 and not C CO. 3/64... Thank you .. 104.172.49.19 (talk) 13:44, 23 September 2024 (UTC)
