Correction

Charles Ng was arrested by the Calgary City Police, not the RCMP. Chris66 2:08 4 Aug 2006 (UTC)

ok, thank you. I will correct it. TripleH1976 11:23 a.m., 4 August 2006 (UTC)
Also, he is not the same person as Wai-Chiu (Tony) Ng, who was the FBI Most Wanted Fugitive in 1984. I see that you have investigated and correctly noted Charles Ng's dates, here and there, so I will separate and remove the false connection here and also on the FBI page, and add and restore the correct data for Tony Ng. Somebody had added the Charles Ng photo to that page earlier, leading to the confusion. Plus, both Ngs were fugitives from US, and both caught in Calgary.Steven Russell 21:56, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

TripleH...I just had to correct your terminology for the Calgary Police. I changed it to Calgary Police Service. The only police service in Canada with 'Metropolitan' was Toronto. But they changed their name also to just Toronto Police Service. Minor I know, and I hope you don't mind. If you do feel free to write me a nasty. Check out my Claude Larose bio while you're at it though. Cheers! Chris66 15:52 16 August 2006

that's ok Chris. But Steven, are you certain there are two fugitive Ng's that were found in Calgary? That's seems too coincidental if you ask me. Perhaps, you are confused and it only involves Charles Ng. TripleH1976 20:37, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
Yes, I am certain now. Check out the Wai-Chiu (Tony) Ng involvement in the Wah Mee massacre. The similar names and Calgary capture locations of the two Ng's are a remarkable coincidence, but Wah Mee was a huge and well-documented event in Seattle around that same year. It remains the largest mass murder to date in that city. I went back to the original FBI source document, to verify that the top ten fugitive was named Wai-Chiu Ng. He is definitely not ~our~ Charles here.Steven Russell 22:13, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

Date of Birth

Was he born in 1960 or 1961? Internet sources vary on this, but I can't discern how took the information from whom.

Has someone a source for this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.226.33.166 (talk) 20:41, 16 October 2009 (UTC)

According to the the Coalition Against the Death Penalty, Ng states that he was born 24DEC1960. Who (talk) 00:49, 1 March 2011 (UTC)

Citizenship

I have not been able to find any reliable source that Ng ever became an American Citizen, or even gained permanent residency. Although he did serve in the USMC, this does not make you an American Citizen. Ng, refers to himself as an Asian in the USMC at http://ccadp.org/charlesng.htm, also, according to http://www.francesfarmersrevenge.com/stuff/serialkillers/miranda.htm , he was not a citizen when he joined the USMC. Afterwards he was dishonorably discharged and then started killing, which usually in these cases can cause any citizenship paperwork to be revoked, if there was any to begin with.

Therefore, I am changing his citizenship to Chinese. If someone could provide some verifiable info to show he became an American or gained Permanent Residency, that would be great. Who (talk) 00:49, 1 March 2011 (UTC)

Ng is actually a BNO (British National Overseas). He left Hong Kong long before 1997 so he couldn't be a Chinese National as it requires him to declare to PRC he's accepted he's a Chinese National, which he obviously never did as he never went back to Hong Kong after he left HK for the States in 1979 when he was 18 years old. 0zero9nine (talk) 21:21, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
Ng later confirmed that he forged papers to join the USMC showing he is not a US Citizen. He provided this information to Don Lasseter for his book. I provided ref on the article page. Who (talk) 10:12, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
But wouldn't his citizenship be British Overseas National? He was born in Hong Kong and at the time Hong Kong was a British territory not China, to compound things China never recognized British rule of Hong Kong, (reference Wikipedia British Nationality Law and Hong Kong)so do you for a fact that he entered the United States with a Chinese Passport or a British Passport? Reading his short biography, he was sent to live in England for a short period of time, which points more that he had British Nationality rather then Chinese one. Limitedexpresstrain (talk) 03:34, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
Yes, considering his date of birth, Ng still is a British National. If he were still in Hong Kong, he would be both British National and Chinese National. While PRC officially does not recognize HK residents' BNO (British National Overseas) status, PRC accepts both if HK residents wish to keep both. These residents however cannot use any British national paperwork as ID papers or as a basis of an authorization any where within PRC and post-1997 HK. 0zero9nine (talk) 21:21, 22 October 2011 (UTC)

Is he dead yet?

Any information about when or if ever this criminal will be put to death? Most accounts list him as still being alive on death row. — Preceding unsigned comment added by OberRanks (talkcontribs) 13:23, 23 May 2008

He is still alive as of June 2008, he is still on death row awaiting to be executed. Hope that clears things up.

Death row or dead? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.80.143.31 (talkcontribs) 20:59, 14 September 2009

The article needs updating about why his sentence has not been carried out yet. It's fifteen years now, and some explanation is in order. Not that I know the answer, but surely someone does.Daqu (talk) 14:07, 20 October 2013 (UTC)

manipulating the system

Reading the account of Ng's trial following one of the links (seemingly endless filings running the trial cost over $14 million) reminds me of a local murder case: Howard Hawk Willis was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of abuse of a corpse in the October 2002 deaths of Adam and Samantha Christmer in Johnson City TN. The case has been tied up in court since then, with Willis' courtroom antics leading the judge in the case to accuse Willis of "manipulating the system" to avoid going to trial.

Has gaming or manipulating the system to avoid trial for murder become notable enough to warrant its own article? Naaman Brown (talk) 14:06, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
