Year of Death Discrepancy?

Just wondering why there appears to be a discrepancy between the purported year of his death, given as 1970 in cited sources appearing in the article, and the date which appears on his gravestone, 1971? Since his obit was printed in the NYT on Dec 24, 1940, I'd say he probably died in 1940, not 1941. But, that's just an opinion. ;-) GenQuest ^"scribble" 00:50, 22 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
