Excellent[edit]

This is a very good start-class article, so good it makes me think its text was mostly, um, borrowed from somewhere. Could you put my fears to rest, X CHA PO? With a few more citations, this article could be Good Article material. Speciate 00:59, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank You!...I Think?!?[edit]

I wanted to be accurate about my sources and I'm also confused about how to list some of what I've printed. For example, the background on the first three chiefs was related to me by an officer from the first class of P.O.s. The bulk of the text came from the news clippings, televised news casts I saved and the few internet hits I've recently found. It probably would have helped if I'd saved the dates when I was cutting and pasting them into my scrapbook, but you know how hindsight works.

I have almost 10yrs as an eye witness to most of these accounts, but I didn't want to taint anything by just giving "my perspective." Everything that existed about the CHAPD was either wrong, poorly documented, or destroyed. To have an idea of what I'm up against, the building/location of where we lost an officer in the line of duty, the building that was later dedicated to his memory and the police museum that his star and story use to reside in are all gone. My goal is to properly document the history of this department, how it changed policing in the City of Chicago and the aftermath of its departure.

I welcome any advice you and other wikipedians can offer to help me reach this goal. Keep watching and I'll keep working. X CHA PO 22:05, 5 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, Wikipedia prefers online references. I found one for Officer Haynes, and you can copy my format for any other online references you have. You'll note that the online source spells his name differently than you did, and gives a different date. Otherwise I'm having trouble finding decent online sources.
