As much as i love Chimaira, phraises like "undeniably killer content" and "The sound of that life is nothing less than a sledgehammer to the face." sound like fanboy comments and are in no way neutral.

Hey umm I don't really know how to edit wikipedia and couldn't be bothered learning so I'm suggesting someone else do it. Chimaira falls under the genre "New Wave of American Metal" (not post thrash). Someone should link it to there. I am basing this on the 'Metal: A Headbanger's Journey' and how it characterised bands.

hmmm how do you sign this.... 59.167.41.199 01:22, 17 April 2007 (UTC) Dario[reply]

I totally disagree with basing it on "Metal: A Headbanger's Journey" because they failed at proper categorization of several bands. However, I would consider Chimaira Groove Metal (post-thrash) mostly, and they could also be considered Metalcore and NWOAM (BECAUSE MOST OF THE BANDS THAT ARE NWOAM ARE ONE OF THESE: GROOVE METAL/POST-THRASH/METALCORE) All three have their own distinctive sound but they're all closely related to each other so thats why they kind of get lumped together. Source, New Wave of American Heavy Metal by Garry-Sharpe Young you should check it out its very informative about metal from USA. Moreso than Metal: A Headbanger's Journey. 70.157.67.202 (talk) 12:45, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

All the genres.

[edit]

Ok, I can understand a band falling under one, or two. Maybe even 3 as chimaira has been around for quite awhile. First off, I don't understand why they're classified as nu metal, that's pure garbage imo to label them alongside bands like Linkin Park, Korn and the likes. They didn't rap, they didn't do anything except an aggresive style. While I agree they are Metalcore Groove Metal and could fall under the New Wave of American Metal category as well, they are not Thrash Metal, and they are definitely not nu metal.Shatterzer0 06:41, 29 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Andrew Ermlick" should be added to the "Ex Members" section. He was the original bass player.

Resurrection Special Edition

[edit]

Is there really a Special Editon of Resurrection with 13 Tracks instead of 11? I can't find such a release anywhere, not even on the official homepage. 217.93.231.97 18:40, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Changed back genres.

[edit]

I dunno why, but some retard changed their genre to heavy metal. I changed it back to the old genres ( Groove Metal, Metalcore, NuMetal (early) ). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.242.38.28 (talk) 19:50, 7 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lead sentence

[edit]

LEAVE THE DAMN "Chimaira is a Metal band" PART ALONE. I made it like to keep any fighting over genres from happening. Just leave it at "Metal". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.242.38.28 (talk) 19:21, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've added a hidden comment (I tried linking hidden comment but I'm surprised wiki has nothing on it... nothing in Help: or Wikipedia: to explain what they are) to further help the article from people trying to change their genre. The lead sentences should be very general in describing a band. −₪ÇɨгcaғucɨҲ₪ kaiden 22:31, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Metal is an abbreviation of heavy metal. Can you give a reason why should be such confusing abbreviation used in the first sentence of this article? Do you wonder how confusing? For a metalhead not but for 99,9% of the poulation of the earth sure. Yes, I agree that there should not be groove metal or metalcore, but there should be "heavy metal".--  LYKANTROP  20:30, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

CONFUSING? Holy shit you're an idiot. METAL is an EXTREMELY BROAD term. Groove (METAL), Thrash (METAL), Metalcore, Death (METAL), Black (METAL), Power (METAL), Speed (METAL). All are types of METAL. I Could go on for days about all the types of METAL (Which apparantley only means Heavy Metal). Still confusing?

Is feces really holy to you? What I am talking about is that not everybody knows that metal means heavy metal. Not everybody is a metal fan. I guess 99% of the inhabitants of the earth would ask how can a band be made out of metal. Do you know that the word metal has also a different meaning next to the music style? It is also such a material (like iron or aluminium) that is good for very useful objects like beverage can or modern buildings etc.--  LYKANTROP  06:43, 13 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You're such a fucking idiot, I'm not wasting my time arguing with you. My IQ Drops 5 points every time I ATTEMPT to argue with you.

Well, I am really sorry if you think that I am responsible for you low IQ...--  LYKANTROP  17:36, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My edits

[edit]

Sorry I'm lame, I'm very new to Wikipedia and didn't even see this talk page. I added the NWOAHM as a genre, as I feel "metalcore" and "groove metal" don't quite adequately describe their sound - metalcore makes assumptions they sound like Unearth etc, and groove metak makes it so they sound like Pantera, and they don't sound overly like either. NWOAHM I think sums it up best, but I still left the other genres, because they do have elements of those.

Secondly, I expanded greatly on the early history of the band, which I found to be not only inaccurate (ie. stating that Andols was the original drummer, Rob was a founding member, etc), but it was far too short. I've expanded it without going into massive detail. I used the site www.robarnoldrocks.com as a reference, but most of the info came from little pieces of knowledge I've picked up about them over the years, having gotten into them just before Pass Out of Existence came out in 2001.

If I've overstepped the mark anywhere, then let me know. Sepultallica9 (talk) 01:51, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

NWOAHM is not a genre. See Talk:Slipknot (band)#Other genres. Otherwise it is ok. But one thing: if the source is for one whole paragraph, you should put it to the end of that paragraph, not into the middle. If it is in the middle, it says that it is only for the upper part of the paragraph. And have also a look at this. It is a simpler way of using sources. Cheers..--  LYKANTROP  10:24, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Awesome, cheers for that. Sepultallica9 (talk) 04:01, 10 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Article move

[edit]

Well, there is just no other use of the word "Chimaira". It is a new word invented and used by the band. There is no reason of redirecting it to the disambiguation page of "Chimera". "Chimera" is simply a different word--  LYKANTROP  20:01, 14 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
