Recent additions[edit]

@NelsonEdit: please stop adding incidents unless the references say the IRA were responsible. For example the IRA detonated a car bomb outside Crumlin Road courthouse, Belfast is supposedly referenced by CAIN, which only says Car bomb attack on Crumlin Road courthouse without attributing responsibility to any organisation. Apologies, didn't see this message before adding edit+explanation to noted page.

To respond: Source specifying IRA not necessary because IRA only Republican paramilitary both active enough and with capability to carry out such a large-scale attack in period mentioned, no documented similar IPLO/INLA attacks anywhere near this time period. Perhaps could make note of this in attack entry? Any additions to page made with best of intentions and would be happy to discuss further improvements to PIRA chronology pages.

@FDW777:

I found another source for the 1st October 1989 Randalstown RUC station bombing explicitly attributing the attack to the Provisional IRA:

Irish Independent, 03 October 1989. "Clearing up after the devastation"

Article recounts aftermath of what it describes as a "500lbs IRA van bomb" planted opposite the RUC station, including damage to civilian homes. (Consistent with CAIN's Heathwood television archive entry).

Obviously not going to add this without discussion first. Yours respectfully, NelsonEdit (talk) 09:01, 25 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

That's all you need for any incident, a reference attributing it to the IRA. What you cannot do per WP:NOR is draw your own conclusion about who was responsible for any incident. FDW777 (talk) 12:36, 25 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@FDW777: Gotcha. Appreciate the help. NelsonEdit (talk) 12:52, 25 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Consistency with other "Chronology of Provisional Irish Republican Army actions" pages[edit]

Hey,

Unlike other the other "Chronology of Provisional Irish Republican Army actions" pages, this page doesn't include the year in entries e.g. this entry from 1988 from this page 4 January: a British soldier was shot and injured by an IRA sniper during an attack on Woodbourne RUC/British Army barracks in Belfast.[223] versus this entry from Chronology_of_Provisional_Irish_Republican_Army_actions_(1990–99): 4 January 1992: an 800-pound IRA bomb exploded on Bedford Street in the centre of Belfast. The bomb caused extensive damage to property in the area.[153].

Anyone proficient with scripts able to auto fix this? Would be greatly appreciated. --NelsonEdit2 (talk) 15:02, 31 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
