2014 class review[edit]

The references are listed at the bottom, but it might help to add some citations throughout the article that points readers to sources of "unique" information. - GrandpaFly (talk) 15:01, 24 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The Citywide Education Coalition is often later referred to as "CWEC" or "the CWEC." Might just help to choose one for consistency. - GrandpaFly (talk) 15:03, 24 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations on your first article! You've done a great amount of writing here, and the style is clear and engaging. However, like your first reviewer, I'd suggest that you need a lot more citations through the article, or "inline" citations. I'd also like to see a little more information on your references -- with some you have just a link, but can you find an author or title or date for these references? For some of your references, I'm not clear on where they've come from, and at least one source is pointing to what seems to be an unrelated link. Finally, there should definitely be some additional newspapers articles on this group in the Globe and other historical newspapers. Please contact me if you need help with the research piece! Again, you've done a good job of adding a lot of new content here! We just need to make sure it's all clearly and correctly cited. AmandaRR123 (talk) 16:26, 2 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Article Assessment[edit]

I think this page should be upgraded from what it is now, ungraded and labeled as an educational piece, to a B level article because it is "mostly complete without major problems" as the wiki grading system states. I support this because multiple categories have been added and the inline citations and reference list have been updated. Sarahneu (talk) 19:44, 6 November 2014 (UTC)t[reply]

Potential other source/related page[edit]

In the background and under the project sections there is mention of other projects that came from this issue and I found a reference that might be helpful if cited. However, I'm not sure if this source would be more qualified for another page that can relate to this page. I found a PDF version of the Citywide Parents council II that has some quotes that could be pertinent to the background:

The CWEC was formed in 1972 by Mary Ellen Smith, who brought together parents and concerned citizens from across Boston who felt a need for involvement in the selection of a new superintendent of Boston Public Schools.[1] This group, composed of parents, teachers, school administrators, church groups, community groups and concerned individuals came together around several major issues facing the Boston Public Schools: the search for superintendent, the need to improve quality of education in public schools, the desegregation crisis in Boston and the lack of reliable and accurate information about schools.[1] Since its founding, the CWEC has focused its energy on monitoring the implementation of the desegregation order, community organizing around educational issues, representing citizens in areas of educational decision making and on research and public information activities.[1]

This is the cite but I'm not sure how to cite a PDf? Sorry if this makes no sense. I'm new to Wikipedia and am still trying to figure out everything.

P.S. I'm not trying to post this message to the actual site, it's supposed to be a comment on the talk page......... so that's awkward if it shows up on the wiki page. Sorry guys.Griffinfa (talk) 16:57, 12 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
