Rating of "Stub"

[edit]

I think that this article should not be called a stub. Cobalt II oxide isn't a very common chemical, so there probably won't be much information on it.--98.221.179.18 (talk) 19:03, 17 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Early use of cobalt blue

[edit]

I've removed this text "the earliest examples go back to 12th century German pottery." with the reference: Zamek, Jeff: "A Problem With Cobalt?" Ceramics Today http://www.ceramicstoday.com/articles/zamek_cobalt.htm

Zamek actually wrote: "It can be found as a decorative element in the earliest 12th century salt glazed ware produced in Germany."

The use of cobalt blue in colouring pottery and glass goes back to the bronze age – for example see: Rehren, T. (2001), Aspects of the Production of Cobalt-blue Glass in Egypt. Archaeometry, 43: 483–489. doi: 10.1111/1475-4754.00031 [1], Tite, M. S. and Shortland, A. J. (2003), Production Technology for Copper- and Cobalt-Blue Vitreous Materials from the New Kingdom Site of Amarna—A Reappraisal. Archaeometry, 45: 285–312. doi: 10.1111/1475-4754.00109. [2]

It is probably better to discuss the history at cobalt blue.Aa77zz (talk) 11:21, 15 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
