Qu[edit]

These Scottish Gaelic etymologies are very weird. Surely it's a straightforward Mac Gille Comhghain - the servant of Comhghan, an early Gaelic saint (https://saintsplaces.gla.ac.uk/saint.php?id=426).

Qu[edit]

Something about the strage Scottish spelling of qu?

Question: How should it be pronounced?

This surname should be pronounced something along the lines of 'ca-hoon', as seen in the derivative surnames 'Colhoun' and 'Calhoun'; some people prefer to include the 'l' in these two.

Richard Wilson[edit]

Richard Wilson was actually born Ian Colquhoun Wilson. Is he worth listing here?

Scottish v British[edit]

Why are some of the famous people with this surname referred to as "Scottish" and others as "British"?DanBrodman (talk) 10:02, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
