How to refer to the Alecs in the Episode Summaries

[edit]

Okay, this is getting silly...

There are now three Alecs:

  • One in 2077 (aka "future Alec");
  • The one from the original Timeline (aka "Original Alec");
  • The one from the new timeline (aka "New Alec"?).

We're going to have to come up with a better naming strategy because using "Future Alec" and "Present Alec" to refer to the two in 2012 as "Future Alec" is probably more suited for "2077 Alec".

So I say we need a vote or something on this, just to clear it up and make writing edit summaries that are clear and consistent.--Ditto51 (My Talk Page) 12:52, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I haven't seen a third Alec so far where is this mentioned the Future Alec (the one who traveled back a week in time) left the timeline he departed from this has been explained in the seasons premiere! --Fox2k11 (talk) 17:00, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Its more for the edit summaries because if they do a flashback that involves the old dude Alec who is normally referred to a Future Alec in episode summaries it will become confusing for readers and editors who are writing summaries.
List of the three Alecs
  • Elderly Alec who sent Kirea back in time
  • Alec who traveled backwards in time a week after betraying Kirea
  • Alec from new timeline who control Pyron.
Also what does the last part of your statement mean, I'm struggling to understand.
--Ditto51 (My Talk Page) 17:22, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
well in episode 1 of Season 3 it was explained that when Future Alec traveled back in time he left his timeline and thus making the timeline instable and it crashed as it was explained by the "head-freelancer" Catherine (the red & green tree) on twitter and on certain Continuum boards those two alec's have been labeled Green & Red alec which means Green Alec is the one that is from the past and Red Alec is the one that traveled in time a week the timeline crashed because the timeline he left to travel back in time was now lacking Alec ergo there is no third alec it's just those two! --Fox2k11 (talk) 17:43, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yes the timeline crashed elimanting the other Alec, but we saw last week a flashback to 2077 with Travis. So just because the timeline no longer exist doesn't mean character history doesn't. As such jason is still Alec son, elderly Alec still sent Kirea and Liber8 back in time, and Kirea's family can still appear in flashbacks. Plus the week Alec traveled back over has expired now as they have moved on for more than a week as such he is now from what? An alternate past where Emily is dead?
Your reasoning makes no sense, and just adding onto Travis' flashback, we had a flashback to Kirea's past the episode before and maybe even the episode before that. So there is still a chance the third Alec can appear this Season.
Just because the timeline was destroyed does not mean the show is down to two Alecs, the third older one from 2077 is still a part of Liber8's and Kirea's past.--Ditto51 (My Talk Page) 17:50, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not here to argue with you about how time travel works the show clearly follows multiple timelines and it's obvious that elder Alec still exist in 2077 unless someone kills him but we don't know if it is the same timeline! time travel is complex and I'm not the one who is gonna explain that to you in detail WP has some good articles about that topic!
I'm out have a nice day nonetheless --Fox2k11 (talk) 17:58, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I understand the concept, I'm just trying to find the best way to write about them in the episode summaries--Ditto51 (My Talk Page) 18:00, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I wrote the episode 4 summary and got a bit confused with all these Alecs lol. So Future Alec is what we should call the old age Alec from 2077? Okay I get that, I'll go with whatever is decided on here86.15.195.205 (talk) 18:16, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Okay here is a Suggestion from my Side that should work

Old or elder Alec = the Alec that is seen in 2077 flashbacks and in general terms the Alec that is grown-up

Green Alec = the Version of Alec that never traveled in time and is the Younger Version of the elder Alec

Red Alec = The Younger Alec that traveled back in time by a week and is now the CEO of Piron!

hope that helps!

--Fox2k11 (talk) 18:39, 15 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah that helps
  • So Old/Elder Alec = 2077 Alec.
  • Green Alec = Alec that didn't travel through time, is an A-hole and is in control of Piron.
  • Red Alec = Alec who travelled back a week and now has Emily.
Red Alec isn't in control of Piron because that Alec dumped Emily, something Green Alec who time traveled just wouldn't do (He betrayed Kirea and basically killed her family to save her)
Also the colans have to go infront of everyline for it to indent them.

Fox2k11, I am assuming you watched the season finale. Do you know which Alec died, I think it was the one who traveled back to save Emily but I'm not sure and updating the summaries of each Alec seems like a good idea at the moment--Ditto51 (My Talk Page) 11:24, 23 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I did Ditto51 and Green-Alec Died! --Fox2k11 (talk) 21:29, 27 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Time Travel Device

[edit]

Moving on from this discussion I've noticed that we also have two time travel devices floating around. while naming them based on whether they helped Red Alec return to the past or not is ideal, I would first like to know where the second one (the one not used in time travel back a week in the S2 finale) ended up since I can't remember.--Ditto51 (My Talk Page) 18:38, 9 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

About those names

[edit]

Whatever we call them, the names need to be either reliably sourced and cited, or acknowledged as an editorial invention. Otherwise we mislead the reader into believing the names come from the series itself, in which (unless I’m mistaken) words like “Red Kiera” or “Green Alec” were never uttered. —96.8.24.95 (talk) 00:53, 27 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I would prefer to avoid using invented terminology without a reliable source, but if the consensus is to use it, we really ought to explain where it comes from. I had reformatted the glossary with {{glossary}} templates and added a bit of explanation, but I’ve just replaced all that with a more complete explanation. What do you think? —96.8.24.95 (talk) 16:04, 14 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Dates of upcoming episodes

[edit]

So why exactly are we showing the SyFy dates for the last few episodes? Are we expecting those to be the first showings of those episodes? That would be odd, since Showcase hasn't given dates for when they're showing them. Parableman (talk) 21:06, 19 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

those are Showcase air dates since the episode first airs in Canada before SyFy! --Fox2k11 (talk) 21:14, 19 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
No, they're SyFy air dates for episodes 10-13. Follow the footnotes. Besides, they're Fridays. Showcase shows on Sundays. Parableman (talk) 22:30, 19 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
after taking a second look I see you're right but I don't know why the dates are there... --Fox2k11 (talk) 22:35, 19 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
