Merger proposal[edit]

@Netherzone: I propose to merge Crystal Springs hot springs into Crystal Springs, Nevada. There is quite a bit of overlap between the two pages. The locale is named for the springs - if the springs weren't there then there probably would not have been a settlement. The locale page includes quite a bit of information about the springs. The springs page does include a photo and other information that would be good to have on the locale page. Cxbrx (talk) 14:19, 10 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Cxbrx: and thank you for pinging me on this. There is indeed overlap, however I find the direction of the merge proposal to be backwards. The geophysical hot springs were there much longer than the short lived town, and as you say are the reason the short-lived ghost town sprung up there. The springs were used for centuries by the local Indigenous people before being "discovered" by settlers. To my way of thinking, the long-view of place is more appropriate, as the existence of the springs are what is most important and primary. I don't feel that a merger is necessary, however if you are firm about the need for this then the ghost town should be merged into the hot springs article. Closing, given that the discussion is stale and there is no support for either merge direction. Klbrain (talk) 17:20, 11 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
