Non-constructive edits and possible protection?

[edit]

A few days ago I did some routine cleanup to this article, including fixing grammatical and punctuation errors, generally making it more wiki-standard, and removing some additions that maybe don't count as vandalism, but were certainly non-constructive edits. These were a fictitious founder, the headmaster listed as John Wayne Gacy, and a list of non-notable alumni.

Frankly I usually leave redlinked / unlinked / unsourced alumni entries alone, because it's apparently important to someone that they be listed on the school's page, and it just isn't a big deal to me. However, in this case the names were also listed in the infobox as well as the article's text, which was really junking up the page, so I removed the non-notable names from both spots.

This should be a completely uncontroversial edit. However, it was reverted with no explanation, and I haven't been able to get a response from the editor who reverted my work (anonymous, but I tried). There have been similar back-and-forth additions over the past few days, so I just thought I should document my part in this. I don't know at what point protecting the page would be called for, nor do I know how to request that, but if someone who reads this can advise, please do. Thank you!
