Proposed merge with Darracq Motor Engineering Company
[edit]Darracq Motor Engineering Company seems like an unnecessary stub, and would serve a better use as part of Darracq and Company London. lovkal (talk) 14:33, 25 August 2016 (UTC)
- Yes, it would at first seem that way but it is part of a solution to a continuing cross-channel problem, the perceived ownership or nationality of the manufacturer of Darracq, Talbot, Sunbeam and Sunbeam-Talbot cars. Readers must understand there is a difference between Darracq and Company London owner of Darracq Paris (and other things) which was a major holding company and Darracq Motor Engineering which was a subsidiary of Darracq and Company and was principally a coachbuilder but also their vehicle to hold the minority interest in Darracq Paris later known as Talbot. Believe me the situation confuses anyone who is not prepared to settle down and work it all out with the correct knowledge (very hard to find but in the process of being detailed in Wikipedia) and a large piece of paper with room for lots of diagrams (in course of construction by the writer it will later appear on all related pages).
- So, yes I can see how it may look but wait a while and you will see why it is necessary. Only way to make sense of the whole bunch of businesses is to be very specific. Please just wait a few months then review the bunch of articles and then develop a fresh opinion once all is laid out before you. Who knows, you may still think the same way. - I'm certainly none the wiser.
- It's not even clear to me from Wikipedia if "Darracq" was a French car brand or British. Did Darracq build any cars in the UK or was it just a holding company for the French manufacturer? I'm seeing the company referred to as British or French depending on the article and really if the cars were made in France by French workers under French management, but with shareholders in the UK, it probably ought to be "French" [and I'm a Brit!] --kingboyk (talk) 12:38, 2 February 2020 (UTC)
- Hi, we haven't talked before but I see you are an admin and you have been congratulated on your diligence. Would you like to re-read all the associated articles and review your comments in the light of that new knowledge. Then, where necessary, changes can be made.
