Louisiana tax credit
[edit]Bice24 reverted an edit that included the amount spent in Louisiana and the amount of the incentive the film was getting and a very valid point that the film was getting a benefit at a very inopportune time. In explaining the reversion, he explained: "Filming of this film happened more than a year before the disaster. The article also doesn't state that producers will choose to sell the credits, only speculates about it. Until there is anything more substantial, this is heavily biased."
First of all, sure filming happened almost a year ago. So what? That is not a reason to revert. Second, the article notes the film will get $37.7 million from the state in tax credits. The film may choose to sell the credits back to the state or they can sell them to another taxpayer. Neither is speculation, it's just a fact. In any event, the reverted edit did not include mention of a potential sale to the state. It only included the fact the film will get tax credits in the amount of $37.7 million. There is nothing more substantial that needs to happen and facts, as far as I know, are not biased. Hence I am reverting the unwarranted reversion of an edit based on a very reliable source reporting factual, relevant, information. Depauldem (talk) 21:56, 25 August 2016 (UTC)
- Never mind, he added the relevant portions back in. All is good. Depauldem (talk) 22:31, 25 August 2016 (UTC)
IMAX 2D
[edit]Looks like a trend now to ditch the 3D revival. It didn't hit at home, it was flawed and annoying in theaters. Digital look, headaches, dimness.Sully was the first major IMAX release I noticed to be specifically 2D. It was also noted for how much was filmed in IMAX camera. Still 2D. I figured it could be Clint Eastwood seeing through the 3D gimmick, but now this. B137 (talk) 00:11, 3 October 2016 (UTC)
Deepwater Horizon Movie's Plot
[edit]I don't think so if I tell Deepwater Horizon's plot, because I'm afraid if I was wrong about this movie's plot. This is the real story. Actually I watched it.

Budget
[edit]What is the source for the claim that the $156 million figure is the gross budget amount? Neither Hollywood Reporter or Deadline say their number is a gross budget amount. From what I can tell, there are simply different figures being given in the sources. I'm not seeing any reliable sources that say the larger number is a gross amount. Compare film to facts
[edit]It is common for a fact-based film drama to be compared to the reported story, and I hope that can be done for this too.
- Former crew members started their own crowd funded documentary project before the film's release, out of frustration with factual liberties taken in the film script and in the media.[41]
I don't doubt this claim, (certainly the crowd-source funding exists), but the "factual liberties" ought to be identified where possible. GeeBee60 (talk) 07:00, 23 October 2016 (UTC)
The article in the reference ([1]) says the concept for the documentary predates the movie, and that at the time of writing the person heading the creation of the documentary had only seen trailers. It doesn't say anything specific about frustration with the movie's accuracy being the reason for the documentary being created, though I'm sure there are some factual differences. There always are.Jdluk (talk) 14:59, 25 February 2017 (UTC)
I agree. Having just watched the movie, this article could really use a section that discusses its accuracy (or lack thereof). Vince Vatter (talk) 05:41, 14 December 2018 (UTC)

Filming in Liverpool?
[edit]el"Scenes at the BP offices were filmed in Liverpool, England, in September 2015, as it is often used to double for New York.[8]" Assertions may be true but not supported by reference. I remember London being mentioned, but not NY. Sentence deleted in article.HowardJWilk (talk) 16:17, 16 January 2017 (UTC)
Language/Slang
[edit]As a non-native English speaker i felt totally lost. Remarkable: Mark Wahlberg hardly moved his lips while talking; like a kind of ventrilloquist. Plus the technobabble! I assume they do it for realism. But there is no fun, if you have to spend a month on a rig to get used to a certain slang before watching the movie. I can't imagine that every american viewer is o.k. with that. Shut the movie down after 20 mnutes.
