Yes, I have poorer English skills. But I try to improve the skill of translation from Russian into English and you can help me with skill of transfer. This my article "Democracy and Totalitarianism" (Raymond Aron's book) is published in the Russian Wikipedia

https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%94%D0%B5%D0%BC%D0%BE%D0%BA%D1%80%D0%B0%D1%82%D0%B8%D1%8F_%D0%B8_%D1%82%D0%BE%D1%82%D0%B0%D0%BB%D0%B8%D1%82%D0%B0%D1%80%D0%B8%D0%B7%D0%BC

Maybe someone from participants of English Wikipedia will be able to help me to translate this article from Russian into English? And I translate from Russian into English as I am able.

I am Russian. I have no edition in English Aron's book therefore I used the edition in Russian Aron's books. It it is impossible for me to give references and quotes from the edition in English. Certainly, I can provide quotes and references from the edition in Russian, but it doesn't make sense in English Wikipedia. If somebody give to me the reference to the English-language edition of the book of Aron, I will be able to give quotes and references in the text of my article on the English-language edition of the book of Aron.

My article is the best secondary source, therefore I lean on primary source only.Valery Staricov (talk) 15:15, 4 September 2013 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Valery Staricov (talkcontribs) 15:05, 4 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Valery. I hope you didn't think i was insulting you or your English skills; the template message is merely there to inform other editors of work that i saw which needs doing ~ in fact, i'll probably come back myself, tomorrow, and do some of it; i have worked on quite a few translated articles, polishing the English, making it more idiomatic and natural. Besides, your English is brilliant compared with my Russian: Once we say perestroika i'm finished, so you are to be congratulated.
As for the primary/secondary source, the way i understand it is that Aron's book itself is the primary source, and we would be well served if we could refer to any reviews of it or criticisms or analyses or quotes, anything at all by someone else talking about the book; that would be a secondary source, and Wikipedia likes secondary sources. Otherwise the article is just our impression of what the book says.
I hope we can work on this together. Cheers, LindsayHello 17:48, 4 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Lindsay! Certainly I didn't take offense, I am simply happy that I have opportunity to publish the articles in English Wikipedia. I am 55 years old. I lived in conditions of the Soviet censorship before 33 years old. I lived all my life in Northern Ural (The Perm province), and Northern Ural was a prison country in Soviet Union. I graduated philosophy faculty of the Ural's university in 1985. I talked and didn't see British and Americans almost never therefore British and Americans are similar to aliens for me. I studied English only according to dictionaries and textbooks 40 years. If you improve my English text, I will be simply happy. I have about 15 original articles in the Russian Wikipedia. I want to translate them into English and to place them in English Wikipedia. Aron's book is the first Bible of anti-marxism. The Russian Marxists pretend still that this book doesn't exist or this book is subject to criticism. Therefore there are no good secondary sources in Russian about Aron's book. Marxists wanted to delite my article about Aron's book even on the Russian Wikipedia. The second Bible of anti-marxism is a book Charles Popper "Open society and its enemies". I want to add my text to article in English Wikipedia on this subject by means of a statement of the contents of this book in the near future. And then I want to place this article about Popper's book in the Russian Wikipedia as Marxists delited my article about Popper's book recently. English Wikipedia is an authoritative source for authors of the Russian Wikipedia. I want to win Marxists on the Russian Wikipedia with help of articles about book of Aron and Popper.Valery Staricov (talk) 14:03, 6 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have cited Marx's work "A Contribution to the Critique of Political Economy" about an Asian way of production. It is the only thought of Marx valuable to me. All other theoretical Marx's heritage is a delirium and a utopia which very much cost to the Russian people.Valery Staricov (talk) 02:04, 7 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestions

[edit]

Typically, it has taken me several days to make my way back here; i have looked the page over again, and i have a couple of suggestions we might like to implement:

  1. I think we could do with a bit more about the background ~ who was Aron, what were the lectures he gave, anything else;
  2. The sections which deal with the book's contents, his analysis of the different systems, &c., should be gathered together as subsections under one larger section titled Contents or something like that;
  3. If we know anything about it, a section on Reception would be good, especially if there was any reaction to it in the USSR or from Western governments.

Ideas? Cheers, LindsayHello 08:09, 12 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry for a categoriality of my words. Clarity and categoriality is my style of compositions. I don't consider that it is necessary to change something in my article cardinally. My article is a result of my teaching of social sciences within 13 years, my article is a paragraph from my Russian textbook on social sciences. There is no excess word in my article. I am able to state very long and difficult book in the form of short and clear article. Value of books of Aron and Popper ("Open society and its enemies") consists that Aron and Popper brought negative results of communistic experiment in the USSR . Jew Marx invented a communistic utopia, Jews Trotsky, Sverdlov, Kamenev, Zinovyev and Lenin tried to construct this utopia by means of terror against the Russian people, Jews Aron and Popper brought negative results of a failure of this communistic experiment. I don't have deal to the personality Raymond Aron and stories of creation of its book, but I am interested the reasons of a failure of this communistic experiment. This experiment demanded very big victims from the Russian people. These victims were vain as the communism can't be constructed in principle. My purpose – not to allow repetition of communistic experiment in Russia.

I try to develop Aron and Popper's ideas, I have many own original ideas in the field of classification of the forms of government, classifications of political regimes, totalitarianism, conflictology and critics of Marxism,

http://typelogic.com/staricov-ctrl-conf.pdf

but I can't state the original ideas in Wikipedia as patrolling men can delite my article in this case at once. Patrolling men delited my article about the law of a charlenge and answer of Arnold Toynbee on English Wikipedia already. Therefore I stated Aron's theory as it is possible closer to the text of this author without own ideas and estimates.

You have the right to add everything to my article that you consider it necessary, but thus it isn't necessary to spoil my article. It is necessary that my article remained clear, laconic and interesting.Valery Staricov (talk) 16:56, 12 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
