Error log

[edit]

If I was a betting girl, I'd bet that no Free Press publisher or editor will ever edit this page to suppress the error log, as is the case with less professional publications. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Carla Bondicteuresse (talkcontribs) 16:49, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Talk Pages shouldn't be edited, but neither should they be used as message boards. The point is to talk about the article, not chart errors made by the paper. And please sign your posts. SixFourThree (talk) 14:23, 15 April 2008 (UTC)SixFourThree[reply]

Wikipedia mentioned in the paper

[edit]

Today's front page has story about Wikipedia, "Everyman's Encyclopedia" (online at http://freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2006608020435). References Wikipedia users Michael Karazim and Michael Kestenbaum. Robert Happelberg 16:34, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Do we want to mention anything about Wikipedia being in the paper on the actual article page? --pevarnj (t/c/@) 17:13, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No. I've been told the proper place for that is WP:PRESS. But it doesn't hurt to have it on this talk page, I think. Robert Happelberg 22:33, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

1987 of 1989?

[edit]

The year for beginning joint operation is different then the Detroit News page. Which is it? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.229.77.97 (talk) 23:51, 8 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]

mail server

[edit]

I know this is a weird question, but does anyone know if the DFP has a webmail server/what it is? thanks 99.227.8.172 06:10, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

largest city newspaper in Gannett?

[edit]

The article says that the Detroit Free Press is the "largest city newspaper in Gannett." How is that measured? If it's measured by circulation, the conventional standard, then the Arizona Republic is larger, as can be seen from the list that's linked from this page: http://www.boston.com/business/technology/articles/2011/11/01/circulation_numbers_for_the_25_largest_newspapers/ — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.165.158.49 (talk) 15:41, 25 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

How To Address Fake News by Detroit Free Press

[edit]

How should fake news by this newspaper be addressed? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:14D:4101:56F0:BD36:37F0:6BAD:78E3 (talk) 15:51, 20 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Changing the fair use photo in info box

[edit]

I don't think it is correct to show a picture of an edition of the Sunday Free Press on the DFP page, as the Sunday Free Press is a joint venture with the Detroit News. It would be better to show simply the DFP logo or a picture of a daily editoin of the freepFulner (talk) 14:56, 22 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox picture should be changed

[edit]

Thought I would post for something so substantial; if there is no discussion I'll probably "be bold" or whatever they say. Anyway, I don't think the picture in the infobox is a good portrayal of the Detroit Free Press. It is a highly unusual front cover, and while interesting, it does not give readers any idea of how the newspaper normally looks. It seems to me like this should be the purpose of the infobox image, and it should therefore be replaced with either an everyday issue of the newspaper or an issue with a notable headline but a typical layout. mossypiglet (talk) quote or something 01:19, 29 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I quite agree. The big problem: do we have anything else (on en:WP or COMMONS) we can use? — JohnFromPinckney (talk) 02:01, 29 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
