Reference 2 misinterpretation
[edit]The section of reference 2 that discusses H-B=B-H having a pure pi-bond is actually talking about an electronically excited state. Based on reference 2, the ground state of H-B=B-H is of triplet multiplicity with a sigma-bonding orbital doubly-occupied and the two unpaired electrons filling the pi-bonding orbitals (i.e., not a pure pi-bond). The table of contents graphic of reference 2 is misleading at best. The authors probably intended to use the "1.469 A" bond distance label instead (the computed re for the singlet electronically excited state with the pure pi-bond). 128.227.1.27 (talk) 16:46, 25 October 2022 (UTC)
