Solubility in THF
[edit]Hello! I need a reference for the following passage of this article: "In these conversions, it is proposed that small amounts of Fe2(CO)9 dissolve according the following reaction:
Fe2(CO)9 → Fe(CO)5 + Fe(CO)4(THF) "
I would appreciate a paper that involves this. Thank you! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.51.191.83 (talk) 14:15, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
- I have found several papers that describe reactions of Fe2(CO)9 in THF. A widely cited one is by Horton et al (1984). Onepaper by Al-Shboul et al. even claims that it is soluble (p.112, "was added dropwise at 0°C to a solution of 0.17 g of Fe2(CO)9 (0.458 mmol) in 35 ml of THF. The color of the solution changed from yellow to red."). All the best, --Jorge Stolfi (talk) 01:32, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
