Talk:Doncaster R.L.F.C.

Assessed as "Start" standard with "High" importance. Not sure whether "High" or "Mid", but I think the 50 year history of Doncaster RL is interesting to anyone who wants to understand the background of professional RL in the UK. Season 2007, whilst clearly a pivotal year, is perhaps too long and detailed. A section on amateur RL in the area may be useful, as would some photographs (particularly any from previous eras). Club name?
[edit]I've always known them as Doncaster R.L.F.C., their old crest did refer to the club as "Doncaster Rugby League Club" though. My questions here are; What is the clubs official name? What should the title of this article be? Doncaster R.L.C. just looks weird IMHO. Skemwarrior (talk) 20:45, 27 January 2017 (UTC)
- Sources seem to just call them Doncaster, so perhaps Doncaster (rugby league) could be an option? Mattlore (talk) 05:50, 28 January 2017 (UTC)
- Not a bad suggestion, but I'd go with Doncaster Rugby League to conform with articles like Oxford Rugby League. Skemwarrior (talk) 13:46, 28 January 2017 (UTC)
- Is the club actually called that by anyone? My reading of the sources is that they are the "Doncaster Rugby League Club", but are commonly referred to as just Doncaster. Mattlore (talk) 01:55, 29 January 2017 (UTC)
- I've seen them called Doncaster RLFC before by the media. Their old club crest suggested as you say, Doncaster Rugby League Club, but they now have a new crest and their website is now doncasterrugbyleague.co.uk. So it's unclear really what the 'proper' name of the club actually is. Skemwarrior (talk) 02:12, 29 January 2017 (UTC)

What is all the fuss about? The club's name is 'Doncaster Rugby League Football Club (Doncaster R.L.F.C.) And that is straight from the 'Horse's mouth', i.e. the CLUB'S WEBSITE. How can you argue with that? Club's name = 'Doncaster R.L.F.C.' Team's name = 'Doncaster'. Simple. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 143.159.128.106 (talk) 07:30, 12 May 2017 (UTC)
Requested move 11 March 2017
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: Page moved. Moved to Doncaster R.L.F.C. per discussion below. (closed by non-admin page mover) -- Dane talk 02:17, 21 March 2017 (UTC)
Doncaster R.L.C. → Doncaster RLFC – Per discussion above. The page appears to have been moved from the previous title uncontested last year. There don't appear to be any reliable sources referring to the team as "Doncaster RLC" as far as I can tell, so I feel the page should be moved back to the more conventional name. - Support as per conversation above. Mattlore (talk) 19:56, 12 March 2017 (UTC)
- Support, but to Doncaster R.L.F.C. to comform with Hull F.C. / Hunslet R.L.F.C. etc.. Skemcraig (talk) 21:40, 12 March 2017 (UTC)
- Support, but to Doncaster R.L.F.C. for the reasons Skemcraig identified. Migitgem2009 (talk) 19:04, 14 March 2017 (UTC)
