Is this page just meant to be a big advert or what? I'm concerned that the pages for all the localities near me seem to be little more than links pages to bristishpubguide.com --JerB 10:50, 27 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No, it is not. See WP:EL. William Avery 22:48, 28 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Downend, South Glos

[edit]

Shouldn't the Bristol part be changed to South Gloucestershire. At present it is implying it is part of Bristol...

  • This has occurred to me too, but I would suggest at least leaving a redirect. Like Filton, Downend is very much part of the conurbation of Bristol and I feel it ought to be stay in the 'Districts of Bristol' category (maybe there should be a subcategory for districts of Bristol that are in South Gloucs). I am almost tempted to say Bring back Avon!, but will go and lie down until the feeling passes, which won't take long. William Avery 20:00, 22 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Agree. I think it should be Downend, South Gloucestershire, as it is technically not part of Bristol at all. However, I would also have a redirect from Downend, Bristol as it is very much a part of the conurbation that has Bristol as its centre. I don't know how to do redirects, or change page names, but I strongly support the idea. Duncshine 08:39, 23 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have moved this as mentioned. The redirect has been included. Fullerov 16:51, 23 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Title

[edit]

Should it be 'Downend & Bromley Heath, South Gloucestershire'? That is the official name of the civil parish. William Avery 21:33, 6 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bromley Heath was a later additon to Downend, most consider Downend - the place to include a resonably wide expanse around downend village. Confined by staple hill high street, emersons green estate etc.

Within that is several difeerent localities with couldbe contested. The entire area as it is is refered to as several different localities - an example being that some people consider it old avon ,other south glos, most bristol. In my opinion its all three, primarily bristol though, its on the border and is within the citys exapanse, being a suburb and all. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.0.32.164 (talk) 20:51, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
