The Saint

[edit]

Is the 1997 recording listed here, "The Saint", related at all to Simon Templar or The Saint (TV series)? 23skidoo 19:40, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No, the song "Out of My Mind" appeared during the end credits of the Val Kilmer film The Saint, and on the Original Sound Track for that film -- it had nothing to do with the TV series. — Catherine\talk 16:23, 4 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sources?

[edit]

User:83.193.133.233, what sources are you using for your changes to the Italian chart placements? — Catherine\talk 19:29, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Decade Video Album?

[edit]

I recently found at Tower Records in Bogotá, Colombia, a VCD version of "Decade: Greatest Hits", sold as an import for about $30, dating from 1995, comprising 2 discs with the original CD tracks plus "Violence of Summer", "Serious", "Ordinary World" and "Come Undone". Do you think it's worthy to add it to DD's Videography and expand the Decade article? Juanchito2006 (talk) 10:22, 13 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I haven't heard of any official "expanded" release of Decade; the later videos weren't properly released until Greatest. If it's a VCD, it's almost certainly a bootleg -- they're quite often labeled "imports" to give them more credibility as legitimate issues. You're welcome to add more info about it at Duran Duran bootleg albums, though.  :) — Catherine\talk 19:24, 13 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Check this out Catherine [1] it's from a Italian site. Is there any way to access the PMI catalogue? Juanchito2006 (talk) 04:19, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Certifications

[edit]

I been checking the RIAA site for a while and I couldn't find any evidence that Astronaut has a Gold award from them. If anyone has a verifiable source I can check, it'll be great to use it. On the other hand, multiplatinum certifications were not implemented by the BPI before 1987, so how come the first three albums have multiplatinum certifications? Checking the BPI site I couldn't find evidence of multiplatinum awards for these albums.

I also think we could expand the singles and video section by adding certification info about them. Juanchito2006 (talk) 07:14, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

(OP) You're right, the first three albums (and Arena) are only listed as single Platinum on the BPI website. It's quite possible that these albums all sold more than Platinum (300,000 copies in the UK) but they have to be officially certified by the BPI before we can put such a claim in the article - otherwise its just a licence for fans to put any figures that they like in there. To reflect this fairly, it might be a good idea to put a footnote on the album discography tables to say that the BPI did not start awarding multi-platinum certifications until 1985 (although the BPI website says it didn't officially start doing multi-play until 1987, there are several multi-platinums listed as early as March 1985 on the BPI website, such as Thompson Twins, Wham, Tears For Fears, Human League, etc). 80.41.91.37 (talk) 06:35, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Essential Collection release date

[edit]

I have the Essential Collection album and the copyright date on the back is 1999 and I certainly bought it before 2007. The track list is identical to the one listed on the Essential Collection article page, so surely the release date in the article is wrong. Can anyone confirm? Live album or video album

[edit]

Live at Hammersmith '82! is listed under 'live albums' while Live from London is listed under 'videography'. (The former was releases as CD+DVD, the latter as CD+DVD and as DVD only.) Does this make sense? Shouldn't both be under 'live albums' or under 'videography' (or perhaps even under both)? The Seventh Taylor (talk) 01:31, 2 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
