[edit]"The Ecopedagogy movement represents a recent transformation in critical pedagogy that seeks to interpolate quintessentially Freirean pedagogical aims of humanization and social justice with a future-oriented ecological politics that radically opposes the globalization of neoliberalism and imperialism, on the one hand, and which attempts to foment collective ecoliteracy and realize culturally relevant forms of knowledge grounded in normative concepts such as sustainability, planetarity, and biophilia, on the other."
I am a native English speaker, and the above opening line of the article makes pretty much no sense to me, and communicates very little information about the topic at hand. This sounds like it was grabbed at random out of Social Text, and doesn't much sound like a wikipedia article. Dxco (talk) 17:49, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
- I am a native English speaker with an Hon. BA in Philosophy, and I agree with you completely. This article needs a complete re-write to bring it into conformity with the English language as spoken by people who live outside of the magical kingdom of Critical Theory. - I think it's the case of "the medium is the message". There is no real coherence in the article because there is no coherence to the concept of this "pedagogy" in the first place. It's yet another "progressive" and "green" effort to brainwash, "adjust" and keep semiliterate and ignorant the students whose parents didn't have the wisdom or the ability to pull them out of the sort of educational institution that is perpetrating such edicational malpractice upon them. 76.24.104.52 (talk) 05:57, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
- I am a native English speaker too and have no difficulty at all. You just need to learn a little about education and the environment. John D. Croft (talk) 04:36, 29 June 2012 (UTC)

Proposal for structural and content modification
[edit]Hi Wikicommunity,
I have some proposals for how to make this article better, and I'd love to have a conversation and hear what the community thinks!
The article is not neutral. It has no representation of the criticisms or possible flaws of ecopedagogy. Also, no contrasting viewpoint on the drawbacks/downsides of this education style are presented.
Also, The theory of ecopedagogy gets ample screen-time, but the actual praxis of ecopedagogy gets zero. This provides a great opportunity for improvement, since it would really beef up the article to show how this has actually been put into practice, how it was received, its successes, failures, etc.
Finally, it goes without saying that the article is way too technical, and we need to make it more accessible for the average Wikipedia reader.
Thanks and I look forward to your feedback! Ariellibelly (talk) 20:24, 15 February 2018 (UTC)
Additional suggestions for modification
[edit]Hi all,
I agree with the above comments and would like to reiterate the importance of simplifying this article's language to make it more accessable to everyone; including pros and cons of ecopedagogy; including specific examples of past and current praxis of ecopedagogy; and outlining a general trajectory which it is following given current world contexts (which are of course different than the contexts in which ecopedagogy was formed).
I also wonder why there isn't an article by this name in other languages, considering the prominence of ecopedagogy and its founders in Latin America, and its international scope. I wonder whether it might be useful/feasible to create such pages in other languages.
I hope to be in conversation and collaboration with anyone who is invested in making this article stonger! bellamelodia (talk) 21:46, 15 February 2018 (UTC)
Organizational edits
[edit]Hi all, I'm in the process of editing this page. Some of the things I am doing are: 1) organizing existing references (into number-citation wiki format) 2) adding citations to support claims where necessary 3) removing/rewriting completely plagiarized content 4) clarifying/simplifying existing sentences 5) adding information about the historical background and current praxis I hope that these changes seem appropriate to people. Feel free to leave feedback if necessary. bellamelodia (talk) 00:50, 4 May 2018 (UTC)
