Tell Zeriq and Abu Zuraiq: 2 different sites?

[edit]

Tell Zeriq and Abu Zuraiq are listed here as two separate nearby sites. However, a redirect is currently leading from Tel Zariq (one l, a not e, but all transliterations are very much shifting!) to the article on Abu Zurayq. Is Tell Zeriq = Tel Zariq = Abu Zurayq? Art. on Abu Zuraiq states that Tell Zeriq is either identical with, or at least included in that site. Maybe that only means nearby, but distinct of it, or maybe Tell Zeriq is one archaeol. site of a cluster located at a larger area called Abu Zurayq? Pls clarify.

Archaeologists are trying to use the same standard name and spelling for an excavated site precisely in order to avoid such confusions, even when locals, administrators or common journalists mix and confuse the names in daily parlance. Thanks, Arminden (talk) 09:58, 21 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
