Celtic singer Mae McKenna[edit]

The description of "Celtic singer Mae McKenna" seems a bit odd to me in two ways. For starters calling her "Celtic" in this day and age seems very archaic, rather than Scottish or Irish or Welsh or whatever she is. The second problem is that the article claims she recorded a cover version in 1975 yet the Mae McKenna is a redirect to Jamie Woon who wasn't born in 1975. I'm assuming that the lady who covered this song is a different person so I would ask that the link is disambiguated and the word Celtic is replaced with her actually nationality or nationalities if ambiguous. I would have done it myself but I haven't a clue who the woman that covered this song is. Keresaspa (talk) 01:52, 20 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The only descriptions I've seen of her nationality are "Celtic." here, for example. I am not sure what the issue with the date of birth is; she is redirected to Jamie Woon because we don't have an article on her yet and she is Jamie Woon's mother, and hence was born well before his birthdate of 1983. In any case, multiple reliable sources cited in the article have her covering the song in 1975. Rlendog (talk) 20:04, 23 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I never had an issue with the cover existing as that was always well sourced - I just used the dubious tag because I couldn't find a more appropriate one. I also assumed that Mae McKenna was redirecting to Jamie Woon because it was the same person (must admit I missed the line in the Jamie Woon article where it said McKenna is her mother) so I was working on the basis that there were two unrelated Mae McKennas and that this one need to be disambiguated. I suppose the disambiguate tag would have worked for that but I also wanted to draw attention to the Celtic thing. She is however Scottish with Irish ancestry according to This source states that she is Scottish with an Irish background which obviously is Celtic but I'm just a bit of a stickler for specification in these case. I'll add Irish-Scottish to the article and that will be my queries satisfied. Keresaspa (talk) 00:56, 24 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
