Expansion Request

[edit]

This list is not complete. The early Sun singles are not included. That's Alright Mama was the first single. Also, could someone add the exact bsides that each track had? The current layout is confusing, with songs listed separately but also credited as being the B-side to the 'above' song.

If the problem is that only the 'hits' are included here, then the page should be moved to 'Elvis Presley singles' and then the other singles included.Damiancorrigan 23:11, 7 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I added Elvis' Cash Box and Record World chart data and additional Billboard C&W and R&B chart information. This made the tables pretty big, so I consolidated the A&B side entries into single entries in order to reduce their size. Now the only major US chart information that is missing is his Radio & Records chart entries. Radio & Records began publication in 1973 and published national airplay charts. I have been looking for Elvis' Radio & Records chart information but have yet to find any. If anybody has it, please add it. MHS1976 4 August 2008

Global Chart List

[edit]

I am working on an international chart list similar to the one for the USA and UK. I would move the UK data to this chart and include additional information for several other countries. Unless there are objections, I would like to replace the current Global Chart List with this new combined chart. The current Global Chart List is just a copy of a chart on another web page and a link to that page could be included instead of just copying the chart here. Any thoughts? Due to the large size of the article, I moved the Golbal chart information to a new article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elvis_Presley_international_hit_singles (MHS1976 (talk) 03:56, 30 August 2008 (UTC))[reply]

References

[edit]

I noticed that there are no references.

This should be fixed. In order to give credit where credit is due, there should be refernces placed at the end of the article (footnotes would be preferred). Don't tell me there are no references, because in order to know the years for "_____" song, someone had to look it up 'somewhere'.

I don't know how to edit the table, but there's a wiki page one could link to for "If I Can Dream" in the 68-77 table.Mitchburndt (talk) 13:48, 18 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Weeks at Number 1 notation

[edit]

The tables in this article include the weeks at number 1 noted in the table with a number inside ( ). This is done to provide the information in the most concise and clear way. Considering the number of number 1 hits that Elvis had on various charts, mentioning the weeks at number 1 in the text of the article is impractical.

This is an exception to the Wikipedia:Record charts format guidelines. It should be noted that the Wikipedia:Record charts format guidelines allows for exceptions as follows:

“Editors should follow it, except where common sense and the occasional exception will improve an article.”

It should also be noted that Wikipedia:Record charts format guidelines are guidelines and not policies. Guidelines are advisory in nature where Policies are mandatory:

“Policies are considered a standard that all editors should follow, whereas guidelines are more advisory in nature. Both need to be approached with common sense: adhere to the spirit rather than the letter of the rules, and be prepared to ignore the rules on the rare occasions when they conflict with the goal of improving the encyclopedia.”

“Unlike policies, guidelines are usually more flexible and more likely to have exceptions and could be changed and improved more easily.” (MHS1976 (talk) 23:51, 3 November 2008 (UTC))[reply]

[edit]

Has nobody noticed that all of the links for "Billboard" (BB POP, BB CW, BB RB etc.) point to a large outdoor advertising structure? --Scolaire (talk) 10:13, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
